Help,

i have had this issue for ages and just palmed it off learning the gears and revs for speed.

my Speedo will work for a month with no issue or it wont work for a day,
every now and then it will just sit at 0 or bounce around for a bit then settle,
then randomly it will start telling me the correct speed again.

1st pull out clocks inspect wiring could be a loose pin or clip at the back Smile

Believe the vehicle speed sensor to be on the end of the long drive shaft at the block end on the xsi

More than likely the VSS, although could be a dirty connection on the plug which attaches to it.

Try unplugging it and then reconnecting it. On the '6' it is found on the passenger side of the gearbox where the driveshaft enters the box. Yes
The loom plug is protected by a silver foil type bag over the top of it.

If this doesn't solve it, then remove the instrument cluster and check the plug on the back of it. If either of these don't solve it then you'll more than likely need a new VSS unit. These aren't dear if you find you do require a new one.
