I've seen a few conversions which turn a car into a sleeper. But I don't quite get taking a six engine out and replacing it with a diesel? The amount of work for that would never be worth it surely?

If you got to 306oc, they love the derv's probably one of their lot! They tune f**k into them so they pour black smoke every where

Maybe he had the car and an engine and fancied doing it. The 6 has better brakes, suspension, interior so maybe they just wanted a diesel for the fuel efficiency?

why pointless ? you get the full gti6 experience bar 6 gears and lots of rpm, and lots more mpg.

given the value of a dturbo hdi I bet we will see more of these as its a very easy very cheap conversion.

Seems pointless to me too, why not just buy one and fit gti6 brakes and suspension.
You want gti6 experience buy a petrol lol you want a deisel buy one you want to tune either tune em

Infact just buy a 2.2 mondeo, fit a big intercooler, remap and wipe floor with any 306 deisel without smoking its arse off looking like a fool

I know which one id rather have, and having owned a good few of both and pumped some good mileage into both I think ive got a pretty good idea of which is better.

This is the second of this type of conversion.

Whilst I do think it's pointless if the guy knows how to work on, fix and tune an xud and has spares then it's a worthwhile conversion if he can do the work himself.

Don't believe it takes much effort to have an xud running'6 kind of power. I've seen the xud11 (2.1 from 406) make over 200bhp... Just not all that reliably haha

Just thought it was a little random. Guess it atlesst keeps a 6 on the road !

Strangest one I had ever seen is a astra vxr with a 1.6 engine after the orginal lump went pop. Pointless. Paying a higher group for a vxr yet it is a 1.6! Lol.

A St mondeo tho not a diesel lol

Ive got 2, St tdci, remapped with a big cooler, goes like f**k, handles like its on rails , fully loaded with built in sat nav its had it 6 years since 65k miles and its now well over 180k miles and still drives like new, granted ive changed a lot of parts but ive ragged the s**t out of it, engines indestrucatable.
I also have a s**tty 110 tdci estate with a tow bar my i got for near on free off a mate, he's had that 5 years and it's now on 160k miles and never had a penny spent on it other than pads and tyres, it's the most useable handiest car ive had yet.
Can't really compare them to a 306 it's a much comfier more modern design and a much larger car, I just like been argumentative with wpSmile.

I seen a left hand drive imported mk6 or is it mk5 the other day looked awsome, they was due out 2 years ago, gotta be coming this year or it will need face lifting before its launch, it's basiclaly a American Ford Fusion.

AH i know that car. It was smashed into (no, not a milk float) and after that the owner decided because they did lots of miles, they wanted a derv for economy, did the engine change on it then sold it very shortly after.

Sounds like it was an ideal time to scrap the car if it was written off?

years back on .net or even psooc some guy put a derv lump in a phase gti-6 or s16 it made sense then for some reason.. i cant for the life of me remember what the reason was now

I have a HDI and a Rallye

I might swap the engines over
