Hi guys, i'm looking at maybe having some of these re-made in stainless for us. Its the sheild that sits against the bulk head at the back of the engine. 2 things, are these shields unique to the Rallye/6 Dunno but more importantly does anyone have a 'spare' i can have to send to my mate as a pattern at all?

cheers Thumbs up

Hi Pete, yeah saw that to be honest bud, thats why i'm going to ask my mate. I want one myself, just thought can't do any harm to see what and how much my mate can do them for. Thing is with Clive (me mate) he does a lot with stainless but he can also engrave logo's or what ever you want on there, as i say i'm not trying to do any one out of business or hi-jack another persons thread, just want to find out if and how much Clive could do them for.

cheers Thumbs up

Does the stainless not just absorb the heat when stationary and cook the heater matrix pipes? The original is not just reflective it's not very heat conductive. I'd be concerned myself so have not bothered to make myself one. I'd just re coat the original heat shield.

People have been using them no problem for a while. And those are on cars that set the original on fire!

Not true... Mine was bone dry however the heat proof silver material had come away and the insulation material was touching the manifold which then started to catch fire

I've had them smoulder a bit but never actually catch fire ? Don't think they can ?

Anyway like I said I can knock some up out of gallvinised steel in what ever thickness people agree on ? I'm pretty sure temps don't get to 200 degrees but if your worried we could get them ceramic coated ?

I just need to get hold of one ? I'll have a nosey under the Diablo and see how easy it is to get them off with engine, manifold and exhaust in place ? ? ? ?

Where there's smoke there's fire lol mine was chucking quite a bit of smoke out, pulled over straight away, it was fully touching the manifold so bent/pushed it away and was fine from then onwards

Iv got 2 sat on my self, not the easiest thing to remove with manifold fitted! From previous posts on the original thread it appears it would be possible to install a metal one with the engine fitted

Ollie can I have one ?

Galv is only a prob over 200 deg - it peels but won't catch fire ?

It won't touch the manifold so that won't be an issue ?

I work with galv day in day out!

I can bend up to 1.6mm galv and thats thick as you like. 0.8 would be fine and is cheaper
