Yes..... Same as any engine there's always some coolant or oil that ends up drippin into the bottom of the bolt holes when you remove the old head. I always spend ages washing them out with brake cleaner and blasting with an air line to be sure their free from water / oil before fitting the bolts.

Also there should be a small amount of oil on the threads of the bolts and as others have said either a wee bit of grease or oil around the washers.

Cleaned all the holes out today and it all went together very nicely.
Every day's a school day eh!
