Folks, i found a pair of Brembos in very good condition and at a really good price, but I dont know exactly wait I need to change so that I can fit them. First I´d be running them on 17" wheels, so I guess no problem there.
I checked around and found little about fitting them, maybe someone can make a FAQ about fitting the brembos?

What I would like to know, before buying them, is what do I have to change, as:
- brake hoses? Got Hel braided hoses
- Brake servo?
- Master cylinder?

And what do you think would be the best discs to fit? I would like 305 or 310mm discs. And, according to the discs chosen, would be the spacer neede for the calipers right?

You'll need new hoses, as there is a different connection on the brembos.

Just trawl the for sale section until a set of bells and rotors come up for sale. They usually sell with the Adaptor bracket.

Are they 406 or Renault sport brembos?

Jamie your thinking of the megane/clio brakes. He's talking about the 406 ones which are lug mount, not radial.

If you just bolt the callipers on, you will need standard gti6 discs. If you want bigger discs, you will need to have some adaptors made up.
Also, they use a banjo to connect to the brake line so will need lines making up. Just search custom hoses on google and the first link is HEL direct (think its customhoses.co.uk) and thats where i got mine. Fantastic service.

No, standard discs are wrong, too small and too thin!!

288x28 c5/xantia disc you want

Na they sit off centre in the caliper and they are too thin so once you have worn away some of the pad the pistons are at max travel and dont bite the discs

Im talking about 406 brembos yes. Renault, Alfa and Focus ones need brackets for mounting right?

Well, so i´d need new lines.
With 288x28 Xantia/C5 discs no need for bracket, just plug and play.
And I assume i dont need bigger servo/master cylinder?

Hi Oscar,
I was just about to offer you my 330mm Brembo set up for £475 plus postage until I spotted you are in Uruguay....
If you have a search there are a few different discs you can use & you can get an adaptor made so you can use the std hoses you have, Phillipm on here can sort you out for cheap.
If I were you though, don't waste money on the Brembos if you're not going 310 or 330mm, you're best sticking with the std set up with decent new discs & Ferodo DS2500 pads.

About 288 discs, there must be some pad/disc combination that doesn´t squeal
Mi idea is to go onto a 310mm setup, but i guess that means rotors, and i wont find any of that here. And its really hard to "import" stuff that are over £120

To get the concept clear, of what i read here, for installing the 406´s Brembos on my 6, fitting them straight to the hub without any spacer, i´ll need to fit 288x28 discs, from the Xantia, thats right?
I found this at the Brembo website, is the specs of the Xantia Disc, wich are exactly the same as the C5 I 3.0 V6 discs:

According to this, if I found any disc with the same PCD and same total height, in this case is 34,2mm, and same thicness 28mm, should fit straight in without spacers, right?

And starting with that base, any other bigger disc i want to fit, i´ll just have to make a spacer for the caliper that moves it out the same distance as the difference within those discs. Not understanding? I speak spanish! Dunno

For example, if I have a 308x28 disc with a total height of 44,2mm, i´ll need a spacer to move the caliper 20mm out from the center and 10mm inwards, Correcto??

308-288= 20mm
44.2-34.2= 10mm

Am I right? Or i´d better stick to Xantias/C5 discs and use my head for something else other than thinking?

Somebody does/have adapters or spacers to fit 305mm discs? I think it'll be the best I can go for here. OEM discs and good pads, cause its imposible to buy bells and rotors or discs out there due to the weight, i'll end up paying 5x the price just cause of shipping.

there is no adapter available to use the 406 brembos with the 305mm disc on a 306

the offset (or lack of it) of the disc is the problem. you would have to move the caliper forwards rather than backwards.

No one has ever fitted 406´s Brembos with 305mm Discs?
I want to fit the Brembos, with OEM discs, any size (the bigger the better) but that are comercially available for street common cars because I wont find bells and rotors here. Theres no possible combination to fit, that doesnt squeal?

- 288mm Xantia or C5 discs apparently squeal like hell (even with original pads?)
- 305mm 406´s can´t displace the caliper outwards
- 302mm and I dont remember wich others are 26mm thick, not enough?

You can only use 305mm discs if you convert to 405/6 hubs, otherwise its 288 or nothing.

or good pads in standard calipers.

C2 doesnt even exist here in Uruguay, imagine trying to find that set LOL

I really want to fit the Brembos, but its for regular road use I wont stand the squeal.
I dont see imposible making a bracket to use the 305mm discs, displacing a bit anti-clockwise the new mounting holes to get clear from the old ones, its just 6,2mm outwards that you need to go (considering 288 are direct fit and have 32,4 et and 305 have 28 et) I guess the bracket would be pretty simple to do. I'd be using 17" with 12-15mm spacers so wount touch the inside of the wheel.

the parts used on a C2 R2 werent off a C2 road car, they were either 406 brembo calipers, or 807 V6 brembos, citroen sport brackets, citroen sport belled rotors.

Ash used to make an adapter for large belled discs using the 406 caliper, iirc something like 315mm or larger and needed a 17" wheel, but no spacers required.

I know! I meant that if there are no C2 road cars here, imagine trying to find sport parts for a car that doesnt even exist here! Peugeot Sport or Citroen Sport stuff, only from UK or France.
I'd love to buy some of that sets, but its impossible for me, just for 1 rotor i'd be paying around £ 150 justo shipping and taxes for the shipping, add the price of the rotor and 60% over of taxes, guess the answer is pretty easy! Razz

I'll keep looking for a way to build an oem set with the brembos that doesnt squeal!! Yes

I have one set that do and one set that dont.... ost ive ever seen dont and have a small section of copper pipe before the brake hose like my current ones.

Right about discs being to thin though! Min disc thickness allowed from wear on the standard 305mm ones is 26mm.

Yup, some of the citroen sport applications do use thinner discs but also have inserts in the pistons or shims behind the pads
