Thanks. Smile

Good suggestion but I'd rather repair the lacquer properly than wrap it/have it wrapped.
It would drive me insane knowing the damaged paintwork was there but just hidden underneath, plus if I ever removed the wrapping it would probably strip an awful lot more lacquer off with it.

The car i'm buying next week has boot, bonnet and roof peeling so been looking into.

You are much handier than me so there is always the option of doing a respray yourself!

I'm rubbish and might give it a go, and if all fails, take it in to be done! Yeh i realise that it's a 5% chance of success or less for me. But those youtube videos........ Roll eyes

I would suggest it would be far easier to find a good, second-hand bonnet and boot to swap over in the right colour.
Panels for these cars are dirt cheap really, and even when painting yourself by the time you've bought matched paint, primer, lacquer, sanding paper, cleaning products etc. etc. it works out as being financially sensible just to spend 20-30quid each on panels and save yourself the time, especially if you have a ph.2/3 in a common colour, (just seen you have a diablo ph.2/3 so replacement panels are everywhere!). That way you've then only the roof to worry about.

Yes in theory sanding back the lacquer and then relacquering does seem easy, the stuff around the sunroof really isn't your usual peeling, someone else on the forum whose identity I will protect for the sake of their dignity made a bit of a mistake with some duct-tape. Laugh my ass off

Got back from being on holiday last night. Went for a drive this morning and reaffirmed how much I love this car.
Spent a fair bit of today debadging a grille and sanding it all down, removing all the stonechips etc.

Wasn't this up for sale a little while ago? Glad you didn't sell! Nice to see a Phase 1 going strong.

I bought this last November, I did also have a different diablo ph.1 for a few months which I did sell. This is Pebbles' old car. Thanks!

I really just wanted to have a go at doing this as I've never done any bodywork and this was a good beginner project. I have seen ph.1s with debadged grilles and they look good in my opinion. This is one from oc, although I dislike some of the other mods:

Anyway, I finished it:

I'm not very happy with the paint finish, but for a first time go at bodywork & done in a day it was alright. I can always sand it back down and repaint it in the future.

I enjoyed making it though, which is the main thing. Smile

Fitted. I can't decide whether I like it or not. In any case, the paint-matching isn't good at all, even using red primer as directed, I've had better results in the past with grey.

It doesn't look too bad as far as the debadging side of things and I'm not usually a fan of it done to any phase.

The paint looks more like the shade of Diablo found on the phase 3's, you sure It's the right paint you've used?

Hi Luke, I'm with you on this, can't really make my mind up either way. You've done a cracking job there mate, I'd probably have cracked it in 10 places if I'd tried that!

Luke, love this car and at the end of the day it's yours... But I'm not a fan of that front end, I think it's undone all the OE replacement/cleaning/improvement you've been doing.

Like I said though it's your car and if you don't like it you can always just swap it back Smile

Won an alpine amp on ebay which is one the way, slowly gathering inexpensive bits to make an audio install.

Thanks to JanneL, I recieved some genuine ph.1 heated seat switches which go where the rear window switches go at the back of the centre console.

My new toy showed up in the post:

Also, most of you will be please to know that the car is badged, as the debadged grille has some small imperfections and halfords also gave me new paint which will hopefully match properly.
