Flywheels are pined unless you removed it and didn;t refit it? which could be if the engine was rebuilt.

Yer the dowl was on it so can't be in the wrong place. Then the other end it has the key way and now has a solid pulley. Well see if my mechanic comes back with anything but he is struggling to get it running ATM

Just fort of something the engine I had fitted in the car was not the ordinal out of that car was a engine I bought of dcc on here a wile back. Am thinking is the different tooth Cambelt kits relevant to different phase engines so timing isn't right ?

Think you need to try your unlocked ecu on another gti6 then if it starts then can rule that if not thats your problem

Just been thinking I had another rallye which I have now sold when I had running issues with the car in question before I swapped all my Ecu's. Around an had them all running my old one so think I can rule that out.

Have you the correct ecu with the correct transponder ? And the correct chip ?

Is the fuel pump priming when you turn the ignition before you try and start it ?

Yer I have fuel pump priming and a spark so don't think it is ecu issue really is strange as have all the right things there to get the engine running I think it may be the timing. Which is down to my mechanic so waiting to here back from him. That's all I can think.
Would throttle position sensor have a impact on starting ?

fuel and spark rules out most stuff so personally if it was me i'd be doing a compression test first

is the spark strong? - if no, coil(s)

Simple stuff first, you must have 4 things for an engine to run. Air, compression, spark, fuel.

If you have spark and fuel, try turning it over with the throttle slightly open as the TB is closed on these the ICV does the work and it will rule that out.

I'd then check the quality of the spark with a little in-line spark tester which are pretty cheap to buy, also put a plug in the end of a coil and rest it against something metal, crank it over and see I it's a weak spark or nice strong one.

How long has the car been sat? Any chance of water or condensation in the fuel tank?

Compression test is the next obvious one..... You want fairly even reading accross all 4 cylinders. I forget what a 6 engine should read but I'm sure it must be in a thread here somewhere.

Other than that check all earths and loom connections etc. Are you 100% that your spare crank sensor is good?

Also no this shouldn't make any difference if he timed it up correctly all the slack should have been on the tensioner side before tightening. You can fit either kit to any engine. Personally I prefer the 136 with metal tensioner and idler.

Somewhere around 200psi for a healthy engine.

Thanks for all the advice. I am going to get another look at it Saturday. My mechanic did a compression test not sure what reading he got I will try find out but he said it was fine we have spark I'm pretty sure it was a good spark as well. We have fuel at the injectors not sure whether the pressure is right I'm going to check that on Saturday. The one thing I am kinda thinking the car has been sat a good few months so could do with some fresh fuel

Bit of an update. Well I got the car back today from my mate. I pump all the old fuel out an put some fresh stuff in. Still had no joy so I fort well I have some spare coils an they will only take 5 mins to change. An well I think that was the main problem. ( although I was getting a spark before) so now I have it running its a bit of Bugger to get running an idle ing. I have a crappy euro car parts icv and lambda and map sensor I'm thinking I should just go to pug an get some genuine ones

So it's running ? But won't idle ? Get a new genuine idle control valve but not from pug ! You can get originals for much cheaper off the net .

Check the tps is connected correctly and the wires are all ok
