Always use PUG type, well worth it, ebay type are well known for being crap.

Id like to know how to stop the oil drain plug from leaking, I used a new crush washer and did it up at the correct torque yet still have the odd drip now and again.

I'm sure if they repeatedly got fitted and removed you would notice a difference in quality but I've used cheap motor factor ones and gen pug and never had either leak.

As Allen has said though that looks very similar to what pug have supplied me in the past anyway.

The ones I have from Pug don't look like them.

Every time shafts are removed they should always be changed as part of the job for a good seal, I put some gbox oil around the lips too.

Oh and after a spirited drive iv noticed a little leak with genuine ones so Dunno

Those look fine to me. I have ECP ones and they've never leaked. Make sure they're seated flush and the shafts are fully engaged. Sometimes they go in far but not quite far enough that reassuring donk let's you know they have gone all the way in Yes

For the price of OE Pug ones and oil its not worth getting anything less.

If you Google it or try 205 drivers forum, that is where people have used the cheap ones and they have failed too.

Like with most things, buy after market cheap parts and expect them not to last as long as OE equipment.

Just because yours look different doesn't mean that they're wrong. The items the OP has pictured look similar to the older style genuine peugeot seals with the plastic gaurd, you're obviously not familiar with them so you shouldn't comment. I've used several sets like these with no issues. I've used even nastier looking cheapo ones with no problems either.
Gearbox seals (even cheap ones) generally don't leak if they're fitted properly. They don't need to be changed everytime the shafts are removed unless you're a heavy handed rough arse whilst removing the shafts. You're honestly more likely to damage them pushing the shaft in rather than removing them.
If your genuine seals leak why the hell are you telling folk to fit them??

^^ Yes this. When i went to buy some from my local Pug dealer he asked if i wanted the early type (like these) or the ones that superseeded them (no white plastic teeth, just black rubber/ plastic)

Exactly, if oe ones have slight leaks under a hard load then the cheaper ones are bound to be far worse as the op has had. Oe ones are all black, the last ones I fitted were for the 106 I was on. These seals are quite tough so I doubt they'd get damaged via the shaft. These cheap ones may be fine, it maybe the shaft contact area wasnt clean enough or something, either way id prefer OE ones which are made to last. As they saying goes, buy cheap pay twice.

When id beeen out for a blast came back and checked underneath for another reason I did spot a slight leak, however I have no big drops on the mat under the car in the garage, so they don't leak alone but some does come out when the cars been for a good blast. I know this because my engine bay and every part is in prestine condition.

Also on a side note, iv used a crush washer, torqued up the gbox plug correctly yet it still has dripps coming out now and again.

What a load of contradictory drivvle..... How you can offer advice on something you've never used then preach about the fantastic quality of genuine seals that you can't even get to seal is completely beyond me??

Well since the poster had had trouble with the cheapo type, my friends with 106's had trouble using them, other people on other forums have had trouble with them, need I go on, I don't think so.

Getting them to seal properly has nothing to do with me, they have been fitted properly, driveshaft cleaned properly before insertion etc, god knows why it don't fully seal, maybe dodgy side, its not rocket science, easy to fit. However the other cars iv worked on using OE ones haven't leak and still fully recommend them because with things like this you can't get any better quality, or have you missed that part of it. Oh and only the NS one has the leak BTW. Whether you like it or not makes no difference, it comes from my experience, this inc helping friends on their cars when using cheapo type they bought.

Oh and for the record, other's on here have had drips coming out from these plugs as well inc sump ones.

Some help

Seems i'm not the only one having problems with the NS one, both cars use the same seals.

more help

even more

Seems a common problem with many things that can affect them. I've fitted them as the Haynes manual says so and like the first link I still have leaks under load but not when car is standing. I have checked everywhere and it is only coming from the NS seal. I guess it could have got damaged or its a dud, either way i'll fix it.

Lets try and keep it on topic shall we, talking about a persons experience saying its drivel isn't helping the poster here. As you well know, there are always so many things that can be the cause when it comes to cars and parts etc.
