I'd say this thread has had it's day now and has no purpose.

Just a thought for admin to maybe consider looking into. As on other paid memberships on different forums you get a member number or even likes of cliosport a full membership pack including members card what alloys discounts at a lot of automotive related companies likes of demon tweeks and other big companies. Just a thought.

That will mean more profit from advertisers but means page is full of advertisers trying to squeeze cash out of you LOL

Not really, Saxp has a little advertising box in the top right hand corner and cliosport has a box at the bottom of the page what links you to a site that offers club discounts just as we have a box for the cars for sale section

I really can't understand where the layout qualms come from. Do people seriously prefer forums with a busier layout than this one?
The simpler, the better as far as I'm concerned.
Even little things like the smiley selection is better than some forums with 400 of them to choose from.

Some of the sigs on here are grotty enough as it is, who'd want enormous unsightly pics of your car too look at each time you post " Smile "? Is that a desired forum attribute?
    f**k. That. s**t.
The layout does not need altering.

Yikes, I guess I'm far too old. Blink

    This^^^^

Toms nailed it... I remember when Jamrag first appeared and he had the 'guess what I've found' in his sig that took up the space of five posts, most annoying thing ever. Massive sigs with pics and other assorted bo***cks are just mega annoying.

I was on Cliosport for a while and thought it was sterile. This place has character but less characters lately, the banter is most definitely on the decline.

This forum needs to be free again or it WILL vanish.

In my opinion it should be a pay once for membership.

That's the only problem here, its slowly dying a slow death, as are others, especially when they have unprofessional admin & mods, of which here isn't the case iv found overall.

Ah, the old 'keep silent and hope the problem goes away' solution.

    No, doesn't work.

Personally I dont mind paying at all and feel a bit annoyed by those that refuse to pay.
However... the choice was made to go paid so that the site would be smoother and not crash so much as there were too many people using the site.
Now theres very few people using it maybe it should be free to try to build the place back up again.

I'm from from the other side of the world so unfortunately don't get as much out of the social side of the forum (though the banter cracks me up). The tech articles & knowledge are a brilliant resource & I don't mind contributing a couple of quid to gain access to them- a yearly membership fee however is probably not worth it for me & so I'd prefer to cope with a small amount of advertising if that helps the finances of keeping the forum running.
    My 2c. Cheers

Aaron - It'll never be free again, there is little point in that.

As I've said before, the interest in these cars has dropped to an all-time low. This is partly due to price, but mainly due to people moving on. Yes

Yes, the fact that the forum has a membership fee has probably put a few off, however the vast majority have left because they don't own the car anymore and have naturally moved on to something else. Making it free again won't really help get interest back up in the vehicle I don't think you'll find.
