I saw this on e-bay and was wondering if the D-turbo box makes much of a difference? looking to make mine a bit quicker as it's track use only and I rarely use 5th let alone 6th, I also have a spare HDI box if that would work better, but is there any point swapping them? As normal cash is tight so looking for cheap upgrades.

With a diesel box you'd only use the first 3 gears then! They're a longer box not shorter Wink

if you want to do one million mph, then yeah go ahead and fit one...

you'll struggle to beat the std gearbox though, a 1.9 205 box on a 4.4 fd from an MI16 s16 or early xsara vts would be quite short.

As welshpug says 1.9 box with s16 final drive(crownwheel and pinion) is a nice/cheap short box

Out of sheer interest what would a d-turbo box do at the rev limiter in 1st?

Also what would the rpm sit at on the motorway at 70mph?

I'm purely curious!

What kind of ratios these early VTS boxes had? Also, when did they change them to a different box?

Much the same as later boxes, but they are be4 and have differences which makes mixing parts with older boxes more difficult (some bits dont fit)

I know i had a XSi box on a Gti lump before now, me and a mechanic mate of mine talked about making the 5th ratio longer by swapping it with a diesel 5th Ratio? Would this improve it?

unlikely, as its the final drive ratio that makes the most difference.
