Well a 106 turbo came up for sale with a lot of DP engineering goodies and mapped by DP, vems, alloy inlet etc etc

So my mate Marvin whos helping me with the 306 S16 Turbo project bought the car, did 422bhp on E85 and is now mapped @ 380 bhp on RON98 fuel.

Im just back from driving the car, and i can tell you one thing.... its faster then anything ive ever been in.....

Absolutely mental blistering quick, car did a 12 sec flat 1/4 mile

I really cant wait now till 22nd to get mine mapped!

Ive got some small videoclips that ill upload this weekend

Its much faster then i expected it to be, crazy!

Sounds epic. Fair play to you, there's a few turbo conversions round my way but the most animal one I know of is the 500bhp 205 GTI6 turbo Crazy

12 sec is slow with that much power, it must be so heavy and stupid power delivery.

Put into perspective, dave p in scotland has an s1 rallye with only 200 bhp n-a that does 12.7 iirc.

11.8 on a 1/4 mile on 14" streettires is quick in my book..
The turbo kinda kicks in on the late side, but when it does... its mental.

@ Marco, yes he bought that one, but it isnt the one from Bas who did 466bhp, its almost the same setup only no external wastegate and it runs a GT2871RS.

First time also i used a Satchshift, and that is really an awesome mod, gearchanges are very direct.

For what was done to the car, BE4 gearbox kit, better driveshafts, etc, the car was a bargain.

And nice thing is, both 106 turbos are only using the DP sandwichplate and both going strong for already 3 years!

If I were to launch my car properly and get everything right, mine would be in the very low 12's, and that's with 450bhp and standard car weight. A 106 should be better due to it being a lot lighter. Yes

Considering its a light fwd turbo car and the tyres he's using and how small they are I think that's a decent time to be honest! Any ideas what the 60ft, 1/8th mile and terminal speed are? I imagine once it's up to 30 it's rather quick.

Stan, that's a lot of 'ifs', what's yours actually run? Not really a good comparison as I'm sure your power delivery is far more linear

Pretty slow really, I did 15.4 with a 2.0 MI16 with carbs in a 205.

I have a very healthy VTS engine in now and hoping to get in the mid 14's.

My mates 106 gti 120bhp is as quick as my 205 being 200 kg heavier, cams have been advance with just an air filter, they are so light ie 750 kg.

Still just a turbo though, great for the straights but I prefer NA myself.

LOL 3.5 seconds over a quarter mile is a huge difference!

It's a 380bhp 1600 on standard internals, give the guy a break it's bloody impressive!

Im not at all LOL just saying a pretty poor engine managed that so a big turbo 106 should be able to manage in the 10's, its only managed 3.5 seconds less time and its a 106 turbo.

Per tone its about 450 bhp car, mine when tuned made a poor 166 bhp and engine was on its last legs lol. It is quickish just saying as others have a better time should easily be made by that car and power.

My dads bigger than your dad.... blah blah blah...

Point is, regardless of 1/4 mile times its still probably a very very fast car on the road. Admire it for what it is, not turn it into a cock waving contest!

It's a small capacity turbo engine it's not made for launches, I'm sure it's 60-100 times would blow your mind though! Just because it's double the power doesn't make it twice as fast does it?? Is it really likely he's gonna see 10s with road tyres?
3.5 seconds over a 1/4 mile is like the difference between an evo and say a TDI golf or something, it's loads different.

I think your misreading what people are saying, its not about whos car is quicker just saying a better time should be made with that car and power thats all, im using mine as an indicator. Its more than twice the power than mine and did 3.5 seconds less time. Get better tyres then and you will see a better time, driver's also make a big difference in times too. Iv seen 106 turbos do 10's before now when at Santa pod, cant wait to go again not been in ages Smile

Uhmmm 10 secs lol.... not on 14" streettires mate!
Dont forget its not a 1/4 car, its just a streetcar to have some fun in it... kinda sleeperish, only fmic in the bumper.

11.8 on 14"streettires is quick when youre just haveing some fun at the strip, cars not been stripped or anything.

15.4 on a 1/4 mile is a joke

for example the stupid 106 runs 100kmpu - 200 kmpu in 6.4 secs

A Pagani zonda R does that trick in 6.5
A Ferrari Enzo in 6.7
Porsche 997 Turbo in 8.4 sec
Murcialago LP640 ( yes 640BHP) in 7.8 sec!

So youll get an idea, ive owned some very quick cars, 2 x m5, sced m3, but trust me... this is qucker!

if youre running a 15.4 @ the 1/4 im sure you wont be having problems with corners , LMAO

Take some exotic cars to the 1/4 and most of them wont even see 12 flat... around 12 secs for a streetcar is impressive.

The car I drove yesterday does 0-100 in 5.7 seconds on street tyres. Therefore I win everything.

My 1/10th scale Nitro Powered Touring Car has a better power-to-weight ratio than an F1 car so beat that. Razz

Im not the one saying that time is a joke just can be bettered with that car and power as iv seen it myself and I doubt you have seen my set up doing that sort of time. There is always gonna be someone with a quicker car same goes with everything. You seem to have taken offense else you would not be so eager to put minedown, for what it is its a good time.
At least during mid corner my turbo boost.doesnt just come in and spin me out LOL.
