Could of bought a oil cooler scoop from merlin Motorsport. Will protect and channel air into it!

It's a scoop you pipe to which covers the whole cooler.

Like....

Would need to be a big scoop, or else it's going to be very restrictive, I think he's done it a good way to be honest.

Nah, airflow is pretty slow over a cooler or rad anyway, most air that hits one sat in the open simly spills over the side and creates turbulance, having a scoop like the MM one slows the airstream, increases the air pressure and helps laminar flow across the whole cooler. Same concept as the expanding sidepods you see on formula cars.

I have used a scoop type oil cooler on my old Race Mini to give it proper cooling ....It needed it badly & because of limited space !!!! ...it was a made of T45 alloy.!
...The big problem hasent been cooling with the 16 row oil cooler with thermostate ....the reason I did this was to protect the fragile Oil cooler from debris like Stones off other Cars /Lorries etc ...it's not just used on the track .Thumbs up

You can buy & put alloy gauze on the outside of the MM merlin Oil scoop ...YES...Thumbs up
....I have this same principle on my Brake Air Ducts ...But I've made everything out of Stainless steel Gauze ..much much stronger & it bonds much better.!!!
Pics to follow
Thumbs up
If you look closely above letter K next to G ....you can see stone impact/ Crack on No plate ...way to close !!!!

Thumbs up

Just have to Backfill & tidy up surround edges of Stainless Steel Gauze tomorrow !
You can never have too much brake cooling ...even with 330 Ashs bells & rotors & Brembos ...Thumbs up

This Brake cooling is similar to how your suggesting Oil Cooler ducting with it Leading to oil Cooler Scoop !!!

It looks like this under Gauze ....
