A while back I bought some second hand solid beam mounts for my gti6. I am new to this particular car but when I received them the front mounts did not look like what I was expecting. I trust the source so just went with it.
I noticed on ebay yesterday a set of front solid mounts for a 205 that look exactly like the ones I have.
They are circular aluminium 50mm in diameter and about 34mm tall. Will these work on my 6 ?
I have not tried to fit them yet cos of the english weather.
Any help appreciated.

can't see them working, the threaded stud on the 306 is offset and threaded both ends to alow a nut both sides

yeah, even for a 205 which those are intended for they take some bodgery to make them fit.

Hang on a minute though. These were fitted to the beam that you bought off Ash that I helped remove from the Craig's 306. So why wouldn't they fit your car? I suggest you either ask Craig or Carl Grimsley as they will know the answer. It wasn't ever fitted to a 205.

I happened to be picking stuff up from Ash (bought a few bits from the same car) so gave him a hand taking the beam off Smile

Thanks for sending the arb, it took a couple of hours of cleaning and a bit of specialist welding but it works fine. Thumbs up

Great to hear you managed to resurrect the arb mate.
Would have been a shame to have to bin it.
You wrecken those mounts will fit my 306 ?
Don't the holes in the body and the beam arms have an offset ?

Yes they do thinking about it.... confused here now. Hmm

Got a photo of the top of the beam? Does it have new holes drilled at all? Just a thought!

Just had a look. No extra holes drilled but the existing hole does appear to have been elongated.
I am considering buying another set any way as I have not seen these fit to any other 306 and I have been offered a set for a good price.
Thanks for your help though all.

Look similar to a set I have somewhere in the garage, the seller claimed they were 'skip brown mounts'.

Unfortunately I haven't attempted to fit them yet, but I did have the same worries about the offset issue after reading a couple of threads

I have those mounts fitted to my Six, was done years ago by Skip Browns but I don't know how they fitted them, so they "should fit" , I will have a look under mine to see if there has been any Skip Brown boggery.

They were originally fitted to bigbadbowen's car, then mine. I'm not sure how as the standard units do have an offset, but they fitted with no modification. As Davedgti6 has posted, they are skip brown units.

Well there isn't much of an offset, it must be like when you fit a 309 axle to a 205, it just needs a slight bit of 'persuasion' to get the holes to line up...
