When getting a new socket for them then try get a magnet spark plug version type, will make changing them far easier.

What's the appropriate torque for plugs? I've always thought finger tight + half a turn but I'm sure there's a something more precise..

Just tighten till you feel the crush washer fully squished. Simple as that.

with some guys lack of "feel" for how tight stuff should be, that's not a wise recommendation,

Depends if the plugs are new or not.

If they are new, it's generally finger tight then half a turn to crush the washer. If they are used then a quarter of a turn as the washer will have already been crushed.

Or as what a pro does is use a torque wrench.

Doesnt the spark plug end have to be in at the right distance using the torque setting?

Also as i do apply some copper grease around the top of threads so they dont get seized in etc.
