Today I fitted new lower arms and drop links, all was going well until the last bolt (except the wheel nuts) as I was levering the arm down to get the ball joint in the hub I pulled the p**sing drive shaft out! So I've got another job on my hands tomorrow, change the gear box oil. I've never done this before but I've read the FAQ and it looks easy enough, fingers crossed LOL WISH ME LUCKThumbs up

Anyone else ever f**ked up a relatively easy job and made it a bigger job??

I've been doing the whole front end (Drop links, track rod, wishbone, ball joint, shocks) done one side today and doing the other tomorrow. I thought ahead though and decided to drop the oil already, gives me an excuse to clean it out!

Yep Halfords is dearer. Genuine Pug stuff keeps your box happy.

I did the same thing once when i was tired and not thinking - quickly put the shaft back in though and topped up.

Number plate looks legal enough to me, you can use 3d types as long as the letters and numbers are same size and style dont they?

The plates have to display the correct markings. I have pressed plates and they are perfectly legal. As for box oil as everyone has said it's an awful smell.

My box used to crunch in to 2nd when i brought my car, I then switched to pug oil and it has been fine ever since Yes

Best off replacing driveshaft seal now box is emptyThumbs up

Quite often the seal will leak your nice new oil out now the shafts been outWink

Also don't forget to drain the rest of oil out of box before putting in your new 2ltsYes

The price and where you buy from does not matterLOL aslong as the oil is the correct grade, 75/80 IIRCThumbs up

Have you got a Motaquip local? They have it in my local one.

Other 75/80 grades don't work well in my experience. It's not thin enough compared to OE.
