Hey mates, i need to change tires inmediately, and I still can´t decide what to do. I came down to 2 models, the Toyo T1R´s and the Kumho´s KU31.

What i´ve heard:
T1R´s are great on dry, average on wet and get worn out real quick!
KU31 are good all round, just good.

I want to put the T1R´s but i can´t put all 4 at once, too expensive. I´d only change front tyres, and leave the rear ones, wich are not that bad, but 1 has a big bulge on the side, untill i can come up with the money to change the rears, i guess 3 or 4 months.
The other option, is putting the 4 Kumho´s at once, wich are much cheaper, and heard they are actually quite good! Even better than Toyo´s on wet, and more quiet, but still Kumho´s.

What would you do? Some advice?
The car is fully original, and i dont do much sporty driving. Yet Razz
I´ve only had it for 1 and 1/2 month, dont know him enough.

Do away with tyres,Colour in the wheel with black marker pen, that will give you the same amount of traction as a t1r Thumbs up

I ran t1r for 2 yrs and they handled the turbo power fine, were good in the wet and lasted around 16000 miles with track days and drag racing, for the price they are not that bad.

I had KU31's on the Dturbo- they done the job but they lost grip pretty fast when pressing on.

I have never used T1-R have T1-S they wore out very quickly.

Jesus tom! How did you manage that?! I got 4k out the fronts, 7k out of the backs on t1r's and the traction was... hit or miss. As welshy said, Michelin ftw!Wink

Ran both in these few years,

As you said ~

"T1R´s are great on dry, average on wet and get worn out real quick!
KU31 are good all round"

Actually I feel they are quite similar on ride.

Due to the difference of the price, I would go for KU31 and it's more quiet than T1R.

No.

Get AD08's
Be happy.
Theres pretty much **** all in 195/55/15 these days.

Otherwise you could give Continental Premium contact 5's a go or maybe Good year efficent grips.

I found Falken ze912's "ok"
Avoid BFgoodrich g-grips.
They will spin up all day long below 20mph

If the rear sidewall pops due to the bulge you've chosen to ignore, you'll wish you had just replaced them.

Just a reminder, im in Uruguay! May be Karma Dunno

So, in 195/55/15 got only few choices.

    PE2: $ 222
    T1R: $ 166
    KU31: $ 124
    Sportrac 3: $ 180

And thats about it! No more tyres around here to choose from.
I know what you are going to say, "PE2!!!" but cant right now. And with 2 Michelins, i get 4 Kumhos.

So that was my question, is it worth, getting the Toyos over the Kumhos, for that difference?

For that price is get the Kumho. They're similar to a Toyo but for $42 per tyre saving to with the KU31

I put 50's on the front of mine without lowering it and it looked s**t. Done my head in, since they were PE2's and about 60 quid a corner.

Why don't you buy a set of Yoko AD08 and see what they are like, I want someone to test them before I commit to buying some LOL

50's do make the arch gap bigger, but they're cheap and PE2's are too cheap not to buy in this profile. Fantastic tyre.

I REALLY don't understand the Toyo T1R love, they're f**king s**t! Complete w**k. I know every little girl with a golf runs them, and maybe they work for their cars... but in my experience the grip is s**t all-round.
