Tbh those Eu things I would take with a pinch of salt
They are for people who go in to a tyre place with no clue.
And i think they were designed to get rid of s**t tyres but ling longs are still about.

In that case get the equivalent of the Energy, which I think is the primacy these days

rather less grip though Wink

but I don't think you'll find them in this size.

PE2 -

PS3 - cheaper by a few quid.

Pilot Sport 3 are about the best you can buy for normal road use full stop. Best tyres I've ever used.

What is the difference between a 205/45 R16 83V and a 205/45 ZR16 87W apart from the £20 ontop, is that something to do with the maximum weight for them? I know that on my van the heavier weighted ones give the van much better handling as the tyre doesn't roll on the wheel, but not sure if the same applies with the car

load and speed rating, same applies to any tyre.

Google could have told you that, but 83 is 487 kg per tyre, and 87 is 545 per tyre, in many countries its illegal to fit tyres rated below the axle weights.

looking at a tyre of the same size and profile but higher weight rating, it will have reinforced sidewalls and possibly complete carcass.

iirc a 306 originally had 85 V rated 195 55 tyres.

I haven't got a 306, or a 306 handbook to hand, but I do have the ZX handbook which wont be a million miles off on the weights.

Book kerb weight 1150 kg, GVW - 1630, max axle weights 900/760

so the 82v rated 195 50 PE2's on there at the moment are borderline at 475 kg a corner, originally it would have had some obscure Michelin 84 V rated 195 55's, that's 500 kg.

Yeah I was pretty sure it was the loading, but like I said above I was wondering whether using a higher loading tyre would have stiffer walls and then stop possible roll in the corners by the tyre folding under itself. I know that the 45's have a lower profile than standard, but just enquiring if there is a positive effect of using them? Even if just for the front

Welshpug, is it a case that higher load tyre = better or is it a happy medium thing where you generally get as close to 85 as you can?

Welshpug will get back to you once Google has returned adequate search results to answer your question...
