Changing your gearbox 5 times is going to be a major pain in the ass though. LOL

If/when i get boost i think i'll be looking into the ml boxes.

Less of a pain than changing it when a 4k bespoke one breaks....
Mls are the way forward for someone like birk for sure as he will have mega torque and mega power
But Buzz should be able to make do with a standard strengened one if stan has
Zac had his coated in something i seem to remember which made his strong.
But i would deffo be getting a ml6 or something over a uber expensive waste of time 4k one...
Less effort
Far less cost

My gear box for the turbo was just a bog standard gearbox, nothing done to it, lasted roughly 8000 miles before cracking the box in half lol, still had all the gears mind you.

You can also get the box cryogenically frozen to bond the metal together to make it last, not very expensive around £150.

Elite might do smaller orders, about on a par with quaiffe in terms of quality.

Personally, Ml5 will probably work out a lot cheaper, easier and do the job just fine.

Yup.
This is a very very expensive waste of time in my opinion.
Hes not entering some kind of mega racing series
Its a road car
That kind of box is only really worth it if you are on a track. IMO.

I would be putting the money into a second hand shell resprayed with some strengthening and a ml5 + fettling.
It would cost less too as even 4k is a best price, youll need 10 people to sign up for it.

thats true, there engineer has valued it at 10k so theyre fixing the accident damage although ive argued like f**k that it will never be straight like before and the engineer who viewed seen it in the rain so wouldnt of seen the slight ripples/distortions down the quater panel, they wont replace the panel and i cant see it getting perfect again, the engineer is self employed/own business seperate to there insurance so its in his best interest to put in cheap estimates, at end of day if he goes round doing big price estimates, the insurance company just wont use him again.
bas**rds, i should of reversed her into a wall flat out and totalled the back end, that 10k would of reshelled it with a awsome respray and done my intercooler, exhaust and gearbox and clutch and the mapping.

I think my gearbox work cost around £900 from Miles, which I thought was very reasonable. Yes

Eliotrw - Why wouldn't a Quaiffe box be able to take 340ft/lbs? My strengthened box takes 320ft/lbs no problem at all. Smile

Because all these fwd sequentials are made for na cars mainly.
Which means they cant take that kind of torque.
Im sure theres a thread where pete was looking into them a quaiffe said it was rated to 200ftlbs.

Laugh my ass off

The BE is rated to mid 200's lbft as standard, does not surprise me that Quaife wouldn't guarantee one above that.
