Have a wobble on steering when braking lightly or hard at 70... have changed brakes, wheels and struts. Any sensible ideas would be great

Oh s**t you changed brakes.... discs and pads on both sides?Interesting. Think welshpug might be right as i had a similar feeling when i had a loose tre But it was more present than just at a certain speed when braking. ________________________________________ Ex- Phase 3 China GTi-6 T-Reg |

Yeah missed the bit about already (possibly) changing them.Although i had an identical issue once Put it in for mot and low and behold the mechanic fitted discs after doing a quick test as there was imbalance due to the warpage ________________________________________ Ex- Phase 3 China GTi-6 T-Reg |

Any sensible ideas would be great The description doesn't rule out the rear brakes. I could feel juddering through the wheel when I was braking and my rears were the cause... On a totally unrelated note, have you changed the rear bakes at all OP? This might be the cause of the problem and I can't believe that nobody's suggested it yet. |

Definitely agree with P-bushes/wishbone bushes, but these sorts of things can have more than one cause on an old car. Ball joint bolts torqued up? In fact all bolts? Overtightened wheel bolts warping the new front discs? I've had an epidemic of idiots overtightening wheels. Even when (or perhaps because!) I say "please don't over-tighten". Seems they don't want the wheel to fall off so tighten it to 200 ft lb, or they just love those rattle guns a bit too much. I'd also definitely clean the mating faces on both wheels and discs before changing any more parts. What about cr@p balancing?
