Matt, if you're needing anything give me a shout. I'm breaking up a GTi 180 at the moment.

Pm on its way fella!

Mei - What are your thoughts on mapping then? Just a generic remap, like an evolution chips one, or something else??

I'm not sure what's available these days or what works best, bt a guy called Magic on the aussiefrogs forum did a fair bit of work on them with a Haltech piggyback unit IIRC, midrange on a stock engine was markedly improved, unfortunately that forum had a major server fail a few yearsago so the posts are lost.

the other thing to ensure is that the ecu has the updated software as they never ran brilliantly on the original spec, you can sort that with peugeot planet though, but needs to be a dealer.

Cheers Mei,

I'm pleased it made stock power today, as they were well renowned for being down on "claimed" power, ever since they were launched, so the filter and exhaust have at least got me back to a good base.

I'm looking into the mapping side of it soon, cambelt needs to be done first I think.

Bout time i got my ass into gear and did some work on it, apart from just driving the damned thing.

I'd been collecting new suspension for the s**tter since Christmas, and the final pieces arrived this week. So we have got...

Bilstein B8 Front dampers
Bilstein B8 rear dampers
Eibach GTi180 specific springs
New drop links x 2
New top mount bearings x 2
New suspension top mounts x 2

Mark (1600i) offered to give me a hand round his this afternoon - in other words he'd get on with it and i'd stand around farting and trying not to get in the way LOL!

We soon discoverd the old stuff was, shall we say a tad worn?

Utterly f**ked more like. Top mount bearings had fell apart and the shockers were the originals, saying that the ride was ok, and the steering wasnt overly heavy, mad really. The original springs were quite crusty as well.

All built back up quickly and expertly by Mark, and refitted no probs.

The back shocks were also original and again, equally tired, and with the benefit of air tools, both rear dampers were fitted in less than 5 mins.

While the wheels were off, i decided to remove the SP pack wheel arch extensions, as in my eyes they make the 206 look even worse than normal, so they came off no bother, and make it look loads better.

Some pics.

Before (with arch on, and OE ride height)

After (no arch and with Eibach 25mm lowering springs)

Some of the car with the s**tty SP bits now gone...

The Janspeed Exhaust

The Hecko wind deflectors

Next Jobs are to change the n/s drive shaft seal and renew the gearbox oil, cambelt and waterpump and then source a spare wheel and carrier to go underneath the boot floor, ready for the Euro road trip in the summer.

YAY!! They look lost with the chavvy SP things on them. Need to do some road miles now to get the front springs to settle a touch. The ride quality is great on the B8's, much as the 306 was.

How were those arch trims attached? Lucky to have nice paint beneath. I think it looks better without.

They were fitted after the car was painted in the factory, Just held on with 4 x spring clips and a rubber seal, takes seconds to fit and remove. Paint underneath is like new!!

The arch trims themselves have caught all the stone chips over the years so have probably saved the arch lips themselves.LOL
