Out with the old, and in with the new...Thumbs up

Did a deal with a member on here and my old Astor has gone to pastures new. In its place is an Agean Blue 206 gti 180 which is going to be put to much harder use than the 306 ever was.

In fact, its booked onto a Trackday at Donington on Monday - shouldnt be a problem as its just been to the ring and back lol

Plans are keep it simple, cheap mods and not to go as far as i did with the 6.

Initial impresssions are quite positive, performance is on a par with a standard 6, although the different gearings the big shock. It does feel quite a "peaky" engine that needs revving hard to get the best out of it. The interiors a more modern place to be than a 6, and the seats are comfy and supportive, even though fooking massive!!

Im gonna see how it goes monday - got some DS2500 pads all round to fit and bed in before then, and if theres improvements to be made, then i'll start.

My good mate Marks already threatened to punch me in the ball bag if i even mention Zinc Plating anything on this one...LOL

I'll get some pics ip in the next few days.

Hope you dont mind me hanging about in here, mind you, hardly anyone owns a 6 anymore LOL!!!!

Friggin Carl get his hands on the Astor too, I swear he is Mr Moneybags lol

You'll be needing some lightweight wheels I'd have thought ?

infact if running properly they don't need to be revved hard, they make more torque over a wider band than an XU engine, VVT Wink also a decent mapping session will net a lot more midrange.

lighter wheels is a must, 15"s clear those standard hefty brakes easily.

seats weigh a ton!

I am breaking 2 x 180's if you find you need any spares. I find the engine about the same as a 6 but they are very strangled, feel like they hold back.
Ride wise thely are quite crashy but this would suit the track well.

I had a 206 gti 180, i hated it LOL

The interior is nice but you cant really have anyone in the back.
Forgot to turn the traction control off once and it nearly killed me on a fast corner.

I do like the electric fold in wing mirrors though Smile

Good luck with it.

ha ha - less of the old though!!

I knew it would raise opinion, however as a cheaper way of bashing round a race track it'll do the job. I couldnt have tracked the Astor as it was too nice.

It'll be a measure of the performance on Monday as my mate rich will be there in his rallye, so we'll see how it fares against that.

If its s**t you'll know soon enough!LOL LOL LOL LOL

I'm gonna run 15's on the track, then see what it handles like. Ive d-chavved the car this afternoon, took the Lexus lights out and replaced them with a clean set of Phase 2 lights, cost all of £10 courtesy of t3ora (rich) who was passing by!!!

Morettes are next out and heading for eGay

DERP, its the 180, they never put a 1.8 in any 206.

The 180 impressed me when they first came out. I was working at a Peugeot dealer when we took delivery of our demo and promptly put it through its paces. They certainly handle well!

I have always thought the 17"s are too big though. A nice set of 16" speedlines would sort that out.

Hope it serves you well Matt.

These are one of those cars I don't want to own but can tell I will end up with one at some point.

There's one locally for sale actually.

Interested to see what you do with it.

Yeah its all good at the moment Carl, got all the back seats ripped out at the moment, makes so much more room for the track wheels.

Took it out last night and gave it a right beasting down some well known roads, Mei was right, there is a fair bit more bottom end torque compared to the 6 engine, and as such you can go just as fast without wringing its neck out. Topped all the levels up today and gave it wash ready for a 530am start in the morning.

Todays "just washed" pic showing the correct back lights!!

And his and hers Pugs - My mate saw this and called me a s**tc**t and laughed.

+1 No idea why Lexus style lights (or as I prefer to call them "BUM ME" lights) were even an option Blink
