I've just recently ordered a set to go with my GHA front struts and despite having 'Peugeot 306' machined into the and being told that they were a direct fit, it appears that they're not.

Could someone let me know if I'm on the right track; I assume that the two sets of 5 threaded holes go at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions (looking from the front of the car) with the top of the strut towards the windscreen.

I think I have to drill an extra hole on the inside of the turrets but how does it locate in order that I get the hole in the right position?

Any help, pictures would be much appreciated. They're to go in this (S16).

I would think htye were intended to fit 90 degrees to what you describe, so caster angle isn't altered but the 5 holes used to adjust camber.

Castor would only not be altered if I only used the middle of the 5 holes, as I took camber off I'd add castor.

It seems that I either have to start with max camber with the threaded holes at 12 and 6, or max castor with the holes at 3 and 9. Only problem with 12 and 6 is that I'd have to weld a plate on the turrets as there isn't enough material to drill a hole in that orientation.

You're right, you need to make some new holes:

It's actually surprisingly difficult to get them both lined up the same, I just fitted them with the strut top as close to the centre of the car (in both dimensions) as possible, to give maximum castor and camber.

You can only get about 1.2 degrees of castor with them anyway, it's not possible to get "too much" with these.

I looked at the Spoox ones, the benefit is that they are drilled all the way round, unlike the Gaz ones which only have 5 positions of adjustment. Research suggests that standard Castor is 3.5 degrees and Camber is a smidge under 0.5 degree.

Took some measurements and did some basic maths and I've worked out that the best compromise appears to be 4.7 degrees of Castor and 1.8 degrees of Camber.

Honestly not sure you'll get 1.8, mate of mine has a proper digital camber gauge and I could only get 1.2, might have forgotten my numbers though.

Certainly though I'd just go for as much castor and camber as they'll give Yes

These look like the fabled 306 topmount kit from Compbrake, these do not fit as standard (No matter what those w**kers say) they can be drilled so that fitting is possible, but I found they gave increased castor and a little camber when I fitted mine. I'd send the buggers back and get some of crf450's lovely adjustable ones.

Those are the ones. Not sure what makes the 306 specific, think I need a word with Gaz. Think over the winter some better ones are going on when I have more time to modify the turrets.

Anyway, got them fitted, mainly out of necessity as I'm racing this weekend. Not too bad in the end considering.

Gaz just buy them off compbrake to sell as a package. I haven't seen many mounts from CB that actually fecking fit yet.

Reality is it's not worth any company spending time and money on developing 306 parts anymore, they're all just the same item re-branded and apparently annodised.

They're nothing fantastic, but they allow you to fit coilovers and they give you a bit more camber and castor for next to no money.

Do I see more than a few marks from a slipped drill in that pic Whistle

Thats exactly how mine fitted, virtually nil negative camber, but a fair whack extra castor (which does translate into extra camber for the outside wheel at least when you turn, this made the steering a little heavier in hard corners but not by much) I don't know why Compbrake can't get it right, the hole pitches are completely wrong, all it needs is a bigger top plate and some new holes, simple enough to change them.

I've got quite a bit of neg camber, I say quite a bit about 2.5 (as measured with the iPhone app). Will be checking properly on Friday before I race and I'll report back on exactly how much of both it's given me.

Not easily adjustable though are they? Handy to be able to quickly add remove camber so you can have aggressive setup for track then ditch some of the camber to save tearing up the shoulders of your tyres when back on the road.

True, but reality is that no camber kit for the 306 lets you get anywhere near "aggressive", couple of degrees at most.

If you used for car for commuting and track maybe you'd want that, but for the few hundred miles between tracks of a dedi track car you're never going to wear tyres out.
