Just come across these:

Mtec stud & nuts

and was wondering if anyone knew whether they were sh*t or not - can't be that bad surely?

Anyone know which particular stud length you need for cyclones (60mm, 80mm, 100mm etc)
and if 60degree tapered bolts are the ones i'm after?

These would be handy with the big Brembos, as any old tyre changing monkey will throw the wheels on and scrape the paint in the calipers I reckon.
Are other types ones where you drill the threads out and they fit in from the back of the hub with a round head on?

I've never heard of drilling the hubs out this is the only way i personaly know of

Until I seen these I just always thought that to change them to studs tthey fitted from the back and looks like a big steel rivet from the bak of the hub, like when a car leaves factory with them.

Personally I'd say those are a bit cheap, when I looked before the only set I found that came recommended in any way was £100 or so.

The problem with those is that "high tensile" can mean anything 8.8 upwards, and you really want 12.9 to do it properly. Although the steel might have the tensile strength, cheaper steel won't handle having wheels repeatedly put on and off, the threads will get all mashed up and then the bolts won't be on as tight as they should be.

For me, it's always about risk versus consequences - yes, there's a fairly small chance that they'll snap, unless you're doing lots of track work. However, if they *do* go wrong, you're talking about slamming your car into the ground, probably screwing up your suspension, wishbones and tracking and most likely landing in a ditch.

Not something to skimp on IMO.

If i ever track my car, I'd gladly pay the premium for 12.9 strength steel, just cant't seem to find it anywhere - although if we can track down the previous guy to do it, i'd may be tempted now.

Am i correct about the nuts though, tapered or flat seated fro cyclones?

I have a set of Gratston ones on mine and love them. I know that they are REALLY cheap but they have served me well over the span of a year.

At the end of the day all you are doing is loctiting them into the hub and winding nuts on to them at the same torque as you would do with bolts. Peugeot bolts seem to be made fo chocolate so these studs won't be worse than that.

yeah there is some good logic there I suppose.

Might just go for them if other options don't present themselves, i'm not doing track days or hooning about (much), if I ever were, i would probably fork out for 12.9 steel ones.

I had a stud and nut conversion on my last HDi and it was such a help getting wheels on and off. I was using "Toyota style" wheel nuts with a Peugeot thread cut in them as they're actually a better fit in Peugeot wheels than proper Peugeot spec nuts.

I got mine from https://www.speedshack.co.uk for a very reasonable price.

60 degree Taper nuts only as flat face nuts are still being made but will arrive in a couple of weeks tops.

There are two nut coatings available chrome coating and a dacromet finish. Both have good corrosion properties but the dacromet is a dull grey colour and chrome is shiney obviously. I have personally fitted the dacromet ones to my car for the sleeper look but know many of you will prefer the chrome oem look. As i have limited numbers it will be on a first come first served basis for coating choice.

Studs have a domed finish to aid nut starting and the threads on studs and nut are very good/clean.







Prices are as follows:-

Taper nuts (set of 16) with following stud lengths:-

65mm = £90
80mm = £95
100mm = £97.50

Flat nuts (when theyre in) (set of 16) with following stud lengths:-

65mm = £36
80mm = £40
100mm = £44
