Hi all,

Have been looking at getting a GTi6 for a while now having owned a 1.4 and an HDi previously (still waiting to sell the HDi).

Purchased the Rallye from yippeekayay last weekend, very happy! I've slightly deviated from the norm and have put my Arianes on her, I know the purists out there will shoot me :p

Specs:

99k chassis, 70k engine
E-tech strut brace
Scorpion stainless cat-back with sports cat
BCA induction kit

Current plans are just to tidy her up a bit, new stickers throughout, gloss black the trim and LED dash lights to freshen things up.

Anyway, a few HDR pictures below:

Not so sure on all the special effect photos, but it doesn't sit too bad on Arianes. Smile

Small update

- Fitted mist jets

- Car decided to pop a heater matrix pipe a couple of weekends ago, not so good! Called my Dad out with the trailer and we took it to the local garage to have a look over; picked it up the Tuesday after.

- New Rallye stickers have arrived in the right colour now! Not fitting them yet because:

- The paint is quite faded in a few areas, particularly the bonnet, boot and passenger side skirt (see my wanted thread!). I've already t-cut the roof back which has improved that a lot but the boot was slow going so haven't had a chance to do that properly yet.

I'm planning on taking her on track at Brands in a couple of weeks for a few laps, one advantage of working there I guess! Big grin

How she stands currently:

Looks nice and shiny!

When you put stickers on, check positioning with FAQ - is a pet hate that lots of Rallyes (including mine!) have the bonnet sticker incorrectly positioned and often crooked as well.

Will sort mine when I get bonnet painted.

A good machine polish should sort out the body panels but your better off geting the skirts painted as they all go s**tty over time

I've thrown up a wanted thread in case someone has one lying around, you never know!

Tempted to get them re-sprayed with the bonnet as the bonnet looks like it has a very thin layer of paint (i.e. you can see a white patch in the middle)

Update - 05/08/2012

Car's been down on power in the last few days and I'm not sure why, just feels a bit flat and I'm concerned that when the heater matrix pipe popped off that some damage has been done Sad. I had booked her in to the local garage on Saturday to investigate a popping sound when steering, especially at low speed; that turned out to be the top mount just being old. As a result, looks like the front will be going lower by about 20mm as I may as well lower when changing top mounts as well.

The garage has the car until Monday while they investigate the power issue. I've also decided to change the air filter as it's a bit crap and quite old.

Hoping she's ok! Sad

Took the car out on the GP loop the other day to grab some photos. More to come later once they've been processed.

Nice, the track shot with no driver just looks wrong though LOL

Like your anodised red air intake, my Cherry Rallye had those and looked good, yours is the first other Rallye I've seen with one, looks tidy.

I'm actually not a fan of it! I'm probably going to swap it over onto the track car and take the blank from there onto this one.

Update

Done a few things on the car this weekend. Rear discs and pads have been done as they were quite low. I've also put the charcoal stickers on the rear (bas**rd of a job!); already done the front stripes so just need to do the side stripes and Rallye stickers now.

Just remembered I was going to change the clock bulbs as well, off to do that!

I don't have a receipt for the cambelt change on the car before I bought it so have thought about getting it changed. Have been quoted £330 for a belt, pulleys and water pump change that might be worthwhile doing.

Sounds there or thereabouts, I've seen it done for less though. Is that all genuine Pug stuff?

Yup, all genuine Pug parts. I trust the garage a lot and they've done a lot of the work on Aaron's car as well so they know their way around the engine.

On reflection, I think I'm not going to have it done. It's a risk, yes, but between now and Christmas I'm only going to do about 2k miles and have quite a few outgoings (new phone, top mounts, gym membership, water bill, TV license, new PC graphics card) in the next month so can't really afford it.

I hate being a student!

The very same. He does all the work on the other cars we have as well so have known him for a while.

Will probably be having it changed around Xmas time now.

Cheers Andy Smile

I'm fairly happy with where she is now. I'm going to do something about the induction kit at some point but apart from that there's nothing really left to do.

Means I can spend more cash on the track car Big grin

Actually, no future plans is a lie. I'd like to low-boost her at some point (i.e. next couple of years!)

EDIT: Oh, and all the black trim will be coming off to be resprayed satin black to boost the colour Smile
