In the process of buying all the parts to build a 2.1 bottom end.

I have a 88mm crank from a Mi, I am right in thinking I need to buy S16 rods and pistons? and take 1mm of the deck?

Do the S16 pistons have the same crown style? So I don't lose the combustion chamber design with the 6 head.

Help would be appreciated Smile

87mm pistons, 88mm crank, custom rods (closer to gti6 spec than S16 - longer rods - less angle at level pistons = less force on the thrust sides)

Ok, who would make custom rods?

I was going to use the S16 parts as they are almost right and may work out to be a cheaper option than custom rods.

you say you want to use S16 bits, but then say you want to buy forged parts, which is it gonna be?! LOL

you need to buy gti6 rods+pistons but with 1mm lower compression height.

Sorry, when I say S16 parts, I mean S16 fitment. The parts will be new weather there S16 or not.

Wossner do custom pistons, I might get a price.

S16 is old hat, short rods+heavy pistons.

best bet is to speak to an engine builder like Sandy Brown

I think it's usually in response to a query regarding a stroker lump as he's considered something of an expert in the field? That and being a reputable race engine builder qualifies him to be a useful contact for anyone embarking on such a build.

If you use a s16 bottom end the deck height is 1mm taller than a gti6 block thus allowing you to use forged gti6 rods and pistons Thumbs up

Standard S16 block and crank with 6 rods and pistons? sounds ok.

s16 block is the same deck height as a gti6, if you want to use them with 88mm crank you need 1mm lower compression height on the piston.
