WTF? Actually running, or just coughing to a halt? If it's the former, you have serious electrical problems.

But with the key out the engine should have no fuel, no spark and absolutely no way of running.

We can only assume your engine now defies physics Dunno

I had something similar some years ago. Had to stall it to cut the engine. Within a couple of days it didnt start at all.

If memeroy serves, its was a damaged/faulty fuel pump relay, on the back of the ECU

Is there a fuel pump solonoid or anything? If it could possibly be sticking?

That would make sense as to why it's still getting fuel maybe, but how would it be sparking?

aweeee.... now that you say that

i had similar issues with my car a few years ago, happened a few times iirc
bought diff and a few other items also wanted engine bay painted so took engine out
ended up replacing my engine wiring loom as fuel pump would not prime at all after i put it all back together
my auto electrician believed i had damaged/fatigued wires near the double fuel relay
wonder if the two faults were related

never had that issue since

behind ecu, usually attached to outside of the battery box near engine bulkhead
more commonly hanging down as the plastic cover of the relay will have snapped (common problem, doesnt necessarily mean the relay is broken or needing replaced)

should be clipped to the rear of the battery box, mine came loose once and sat on the exhaust maniflod, ICV went potty, rev counter stopped working, but engine drove fine.

feasible for the relay to stick on with the switched live turned off, try another relay first.

Mind you it could be an igintion barrel problem. Because when i take the key out. Everything on the dash is still lit up. so im guessing the ignition is still live? and when i blip the throttle to cut the engine out . I reckon its proply burning whats left of the fuel in the system and the amobiliser is doing its job and cutting the fuel???

This would make more sense. Fuel or no fuel, removing the key should cut the ignition immediately. If the engine carries on running, it's still getting a spark. Perhaps if it was a diesel you could argue it's keeping itself going as it just needs maintained compression to ignite, but not on a petrol.

As I said in a previous earlier post, Its a little module on the back of the ECU. So in sequence from frotn to back - battery, ECU, little fuel pump rely, bulkhead Thumbs up

It will be an ignition barrel fault, of this I'm pretty sure. Yes
