hi folks, I'm bored and want to fix my rotors to the bells but am not sure which way they go Confused
Can anybody supply a pic or explain which way the bells go in the rotors and which way the bolts should face eg.
It's the Renault rs Brembo 330mm kit from ash.
Thanks Andy

Sounds about right, they are only M6 and they use stiffnuts, and given that they use 12 of them to distribute the load, plus the bolts are working mostly in shear I would say you'd be fine at that.

did anybody have to drill out the holes in the brackets on the inner wing to fit the brake line through?
My brake flexi pipe is about 1-0.5mm too thick to get the end through , it needs to go through to clip in securely?
I'd of rather they just fit straight through like my other braided brake lines did, I had the long spring protector and rubber on before, but Looks like the ends are to thick on these to slide it over.

The lines that are/was fitted:

New ones:

Have other people drilled this hole out or did your lines fit in this ok?
I'd prefer to use the spring and rubber protector aswell if it would of fitted.
Shall I get some different lines made up?

Yeah, I have lines that Ash supplied and I had to open the mountings up a little. Only added a couple of minutes work, and the standard lines will still fit again if needed. I was a little surprised to discover they didn't fit directly though, and thought that someone would have mentioned that by now.

I had my old braided lines fitted for around 4 years without the standard rubber / spring covers and never had any problems so I wouldn't worry to much about that. Ash uses these lines as they are on his high boost race car without any issues.

it just seems better with the spring protector on though as it helps it keep a nice shape, also makes it look o e.
Ahh well I'll have to buy a bigger drill bit as I havnt got any that go up to that size.

Did you also keep the retaining clip on the solid line aswell as the new one for the flexi supplied?
I'm still thinking about getting some new lines made up though Smile

Thanks andy

I wouldn't say these were bad or anything, the surclip supplied with them will probably secure them better than the factory style one that's in currently, I just can't decide wether to get some made that use exactly the same end as my others.

not bad but still not a direct fit LOL:

Pugracing, straight in no messing.

the ends pictured on yours look like the ones for the rear lines, not the front.

I'm amused that someone fitting 330mm rotors is worried about trying to make it look OEM.

Personally I'd forget the springs and just enlarge the hole to take the new style end, but thats just me.

It's not a case of looking oem but more a case of serving the purpose as good as and not having too many mods that aren't necessary eg

Looks like a 16mm drill bit for this or 15.5 to be perfect but I doubt I can get one that size.

I'm not on about the different ends Been better quality im talking about the finished job with the springs and rubber and without, which Job ooks The best quality, because I think with the springs and rubber on it looks like it left the factory like that and the pic without looks as though somebody's just thrown a set of braided lines on there carelessly.

I know the lines are the same just different ends, jeez I'm not totally stupid.

The spring is there to protect the standard rubber covered hoses from chafing. As stainless steel braided hose is effectively mechanically protected by an ultra hardwearing outer braid the spring is completely redundant, and extra weight. Where it passes through the rubber sleeve on the strut though I would be sure to sleeve it with something that will prevent movement as the existing rubber sleeve is sloppy and the braid will chafe through it and be metal on metal in a short while.

if I do use the springs I could always pull out a single strand
Of my hair to compensate for the weight added.
