thought it was about time i put up a few details of my current project, for those who may be interested.

at the beginning of this year, i had this

this

and this

sadly, the rallye was giving symptoms of a failing headgasket, so i decided to sell, as i didn't have the time to fix.

i also decided to sell both 205s, and use the money to spend on a much tidier 306.

so in february i purchased

totally standard (but not for long Wink)

to cut a long story short, T153JCP had to be returned to who i bought it from, as cooling system was constantly pressurized. so a new headgasket and heater matrix were fitted under warranty Thumbs up

the first thing i did was fit some HEKO wind deflectors

as i plan on keeping this car for some time, i decided to start spending. hopefully i would get the same handling characteristics of the ex-hillclimb 205gti i used to own

fitted a k&n induction kit, to replace the nasty cone filter that was fitted directly to the throttle body Roll eyes

first modification was to fit a xsara vts steering rack. not doing anything by half, the rack was fitted with new track rod arms and ends. then changed the monster standard steering wheel, for something a bit smaller

and at the same time, fetching the steering wheel closer. WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT!! Big grin

ride height before lowering

all the suspension parts were sourced, and built up. rear beam fully stripped, shotblasted, and rebuilt with all genuine parts, inc new abs sensors. here is what i had

removal of old parts

as you can see, the p-bush doesn't look to clever! and someone had fitted s**ttyflex bushes the front of the wishbone aswell! and the plastic droplinks had no resistance in the joints at all Roll eyes

fitment of new parts

ride height at front after fitting new parts

so the next job was to get the back end sorted. old beam was removed. i prefer to undo the handbrake cables from the calipers, unclip abs sensors and undo the 2 unions for the braklines.

new beam ready to go on

beam was built using xsara vts torsion bars and hybrid a.r.b

after Big grin

tbh, i wasn't overly impressed with the rear end. after all, i had had stiffened up the front so much, that the back end felt like jelly with the o/e rear mounts and hybrid a.r.b.

so i removed the axle again, and fitted the std a.r.b and a set of solid mounts

very, very happy with the set up now Big grin Big grin

a few weeks ago i decided to get another set of cyclones painted in anthracite. so took them to a local guy. BUT when i got back home a for sale post had come up from ben306, who had decided to sell his 'rare' bk603 wheels

as seen here

so after a trip oop north, i loaded up all 8 rims and a bag of bolts Big grin

next day, i headed back to see http://www.thewheelrestorer.co.uk/home.html with my 16s

as i was going to be fitting the 16s, i decided to have them done in a dark metallic, and have the cyclones i previously took, painted in something a bit lairy

voila LOL

a trip to demon tweeks, and i had a brand new scorpion cat-back system fitted and the tracking set up (now that all the suspension was finished)

at this moment in time, the 16s are in my garage shod with goodyear F1 boots. just need to wax the wheels

i'm awaiting delivery of a pair of 406 brembos and tarox G88 discs. thanks to swampy for supplying the braided hoses.

managed to win some genuine 406 v6 pads on ebay for £10.59 Thumbs up

still plenty more to do, so will keep you all updated

cheers

Agree with welshpug, those wind deflectors are seriously tacky.

Car looks nice though and the rear beam is lush.

Cheers.

Car now sits 25-30mm lower all round. By fitting the vts torsion bars to the axle, I have set the distance between shocker mounting bolts at 316mm

a bit more of an update for those interested Thumbs up

so here are my freshly repainted bk wheels. new spigot rings fitted along with goodyear F1s (waiting for stickers off custom-decals for centre caps)

o/e bonnet badge removed for a couple of coats of satin black

decided to change the crystal headlights

for some gnrlee supplied masks

had a water leak at rear quarter window

so new seals were fitted

no more leaks Big grin

since buying the car, the gearknob had been missing the leather.

i have had a new one order for quite some time, and no delivery date. so had to buy secondhand

Smile

also took delivery of

not exactly as described, but thought WTF, i'll strip and re-furb

so brembos are away for powdercoating in red. new seals and fitting kit have arrived. tarox g88s, stickers and ds2500s on order

meanwhile, my antenna snapped, so a new longer one has been ordered.

i also couldn't resist the price of these

so after collection, i called in to see roger (thewheelrestorer), who is now giving them a fresh coat of paint Cool

(just trying to source some centre caps)

new gsd3s will be fitted, along with some new wheel bolts

that's it for now, until other bits and pieces turn up

cheers

update time

pro-race 1.2s back, and fitted with the new f1s

swapped my 330mm steering wheel for 350mm. far better Thumbs up

thanks to rikky, i fitted a better condition rear spoiler, and decided to bin the rear wiper

replaced the standard washer jets for the mist type

seeing as today was so nice, i spent over 4 hours cleaning the car. i washed the car, then clayed it, then washed again, then used some smart polish, and then waxed.

as you can see, i now have my BKs fitted, and applied some meguiars endurance tire gel to the tyre walls. finally got around to fitting some new mudflaps Big grin

very pleased with my project so far Clapping

not had my brembos back yet. but as soon as i do, i'll update thread Smile

It's not bad to be fair, and lasts quite well. Autoglym is another good one.

The best I ever used, was a spray on foam type. But not been able to find/buy it for some time
