Hello chaps. After some reading here i didn't find what i was looking for so there it is.

The oil temp gauge (OEM in dash) in my car is acting a little funny from time to time. What i mean you start the car and drive off on a normal day lets say an ambient temp of 25C with normal driving in the highway at speeds up to 60-70mph it tends to climb above the middle and stays there for no apparent reason. The same thing is also happening when driving in town even in the heart of winter.
The car runs on Total 10-40 oil and the water temp is always below 90C. If we take the oil temp sensor out of the equation what else can cause that. Is this something to worry about like a sign of another problem lurking deeper. I have no loss of water in the rad and the engine is not using any oil whatsoever.

Any ideas? The summer is round the corner and with temps over 40C that thing makes me nervous.Angry

I do believe that its fine too.
But it wasn't doing that a few years back when i got the car with 37000km on the clock ( now on 80.000km). As for the plugs and wiring there is not a single drop of oil in the engine bay and i have already checked everything. I am asking just for peace of mind.

I believe so too just want to make sure that its not something else. After all a sensor cost's is nothing compared to other related failures.Thumbs up

Oil Temp question answered. Head gasket gone....Sad I found water on cylinder 1 and 2 this morning so the car is off the road for the next two weeks at least!!! so i believe that justifies the oil temp going a bit high now and then. Only question now is why on a fully and always on time serviced engine this happened?

Any way many many thanks for the quick replies everyoneThumbs up

Sorry to hear this has happened yanni, you live in Greece which due to the warmer climate may have an effect on the life of the head gasket, or you've just been unlucky. Either way hope you get this sorted soon! Smile

Still have the Citroen brackets and the callipers but haven't found the time for disk's and trial fitting. I know it has been a long time since but work and family has kept me away form any project for all this time.
