Has any one used Krisb in surrey for repairs. My headgasket needs doing I had a quote off a friend at a garage and after a chat I feel he would be only doing half the job. So willing to pay bit more and get it done 100%

Thanks

Yer I was thinking pug1off an like you say they are close. Well when I say half a job I mean like not changing thermostat not sure about stem seals and I also asked him for a service as well. I'm not a mechanic but after doing headgasket all I can think left in a service is fuel filter plugs leads and gear box oil

I've never changed a thermostat when doing a head unless that not working is what has caused the hg to go??

Kris has a good rep across many Peugeot forums

Ive used KrisB a couple of times.

He did my clutch+flywheel. And my torsion bars.

Seems a very good mechanic and very reasonable on prices too, good guy too.

I would use him again

You should ask him what his HG change entails
Although i think its all detailed here -

http://www.krisb.co.uk/category/pricing/

Edit; 'Headgasket includes – Full head rebuild, including new camshaft oil seals, valve stem seals, inlet and exhaust manifold gaskets, headgasket, head skim, new cambelt and tensioner/idlers, oil change, coolant change and new Thermostat.. Waterpump extra.'

I'd only fit a thermostat if the old one was faulty, however I would ALWAYS do the water pump.

Just get your mate to do it, nothing special about them at all, it's just a XU10 engine at the end of the day,
The only company bar a couple down here would be Shenpar up North

agree with Miles, same as any other XU engine really, and pretty similar to most 16v engines.

Third that.

No offense but it is a 15 year old car and it aint a Ferrari LOL

When i have to do a head gasket or head work i just send the cylinder head off to my local engine engineer and they do all the work to the cylinder head.

Skim, pressure test, alley welding, valve re seat or oil stem seals they just do it, far cheaper for them to do it rather than me. Plus i cannot be arsed LOL

Most garages seem to sub out this kind of work nower days.

As above, Kris changed my clutch last week while I stuck around and helped out.
I already had all the parts and he is pretty quick and very good prices.
In fact it would have been a little cheaper if I had let Kris get the Valeo clutch, but I already had the parts and am very happy with the job.

I would go back again if I have any biggish jobs that I can't handle on my own Smile

Has anyone used KrisB more recently than this?

I could do with having some work done on my car but haven't had any responses to my emails recently.

cheers,

He fitted my oil cooler last year. I'd be happy to put more work his way.
