Just got off the phone from local Peugeot Dealer to find out what is going on with the part numbers for the GTi 6 suspension.

Front

Seems the part number for these has changed from 5202.S4 & 5202.S8 to 5208.N2 & 5208.N3

This has changed for all models which have the improved/sports suspension setup (XSi, Late DTurbo etc)

The parts guy reckons this is possibly just a parts number change

Rear

Part number here has changed from 5206.K6 to 5206.TE

He wasn't sure whats happened with these - he seemed to think they may be a different part altogether

This has changed for all models which have the improved/sports suspension setup (XSi, Late DTurbo etc)

Anybody got any contacts at Peugeot so we can confirm what's happened with these parts ?

Starting to look like the suspension has gone the same way as the genuine backbox Sad

This is not good news.

I was hoping the parts supplies wouldn't run out this quickly, seems like its getting more difficult by the day now to get genuine parts for the 306. Sad

Stopped supplying the orginal and replacement with the non GTi 6 poverty spec part

Stan,

I'm hoping that it is just part number change as the GTi 6 suspension is no unique (XSI, DTurbo and possibly XS all use it also)

its just superseeding old part numbers, as you said, the gti6 isn't unique in thee suspension it uses as any sport 2 car used the same rear dampers.

quite a few guys are using the TE part number on 205's on the 205drivers forum, its actually the same part number for a 1.9 205 these days too (as was the K6 part number)

rear box is the same, just doesn't have the chrome bit.

Did anyone of 205drivers compare the parts (eg do they look the same)

Parts guy mentioned they may be manufactured by someone else now (although I was led to believe Peugeot built most of it's dampers inhouse)

The rear box isn't the same it's missing the hanger head shields as well, and I expect the internals are probably slightly different too, as it's supposed to be strengthened internally

I see. Hopefully it will be the same parts then just with different numbers...

I have also noticed an increase of bulk buying in Pug when you call them up for something out of stock. They say they have no intention of stocking it so if you want one you will have to buy a packet of 10 or 20 etc...I have noticed a sharp rise in this. Yes

Depends on the dealer TBH they have always done that to an extent.

Few years back one of my gearbox bolts just disappeared (casing one that has never been undone since manufacture) Had to buy a pack of 6 at some crazy price

Things seemed to improve slightly when they rebranded the Peugeot UK dealership chains ( now Robins & Day)

At least now it's obvious by names who are independants LOL

I've only really noticed it in the last 18 months...quite often I would order one part and the dealer would order in the bag of 10 then open the bag in front of me and take one out. Yes

This doesn't seem to happen anymore though. No

Stan, I played my face last time i ordered an exhaust manifold stud. Only needed one, they come in a pack of 20, theres only 10 on the car FFS.

He wouldnt budge cos he was being a cock that day, so when i went to pick them up, i took one out of the bag and asked for a refund on the remaining 19!!! Ha ha ha. Their policy is to generally take back unused parts on a trade account so that stuffed him.

Needless to say, i only ended up paying for one. He's been ok since and will now supply just what i need without giving me the "minimum" quantity bollox.

Now these cars are getting to that age where parts aren't generally readily available at the dealer on the day, perhaps it would be best to start an "in-house" 306gti6.com system....

What do we think about this idea:

You go Pug, and you really need a part, but they only come in a pack of 20. So you buy the 20 and use your one.

With the remaining 19, you put a thread up on here stating part number and description and quantity you have, which are now for sale.

If we all did this, we would be able to trade parts "in-house" through the forum and it would save everyone having to buy bags of 20 of the same part when we only wanted 1 or 2.

There could even be a separate section of the forum, for example "Peugeot Stock For Sale".

Users could check this forum to see availability of the part number they are after before going to Pug. Yes

Discuss. Smile

You are correct, I used to buy 1 or 2 of those whenever I needed them. Yes

Another idea and one I have looked into a couple of times is to find a dealer who is willing to work with the club to supply GTi 6 parts at discount.

I would hope if they know there is going to regular purchases of common parts :

1. They will keep stock of the more popular items that many dealers don't
2. They won't have an issue with splitting bolts, clips etc

I was in active discussions with a dealer a couple of years ago but unfortunatly they got bought out and at the time the new management were not interested in what was effectively mail order supplying so this never progressed.

I spoke today with a parts guy at my local dealer Yeomans Peugeots (thepeugeotshop.co.uk) who seemed pretty sound/competent- they already have a mail order so may be interested in doing a scheme

Is this something people would actually use ?
