that is the most accurate review of anything on this site.

it is indeed, mine is in my door pocket.

worked for a couple weeks but then started slipping round the rod.

They used to be ok when they clamped over the ball and came with a new gear rod attached, although mine still broke and I had to weld it up, but that was after a considerable amount of track work. New one's look a bit pants though.

How can you expect a plain a plain shaft not to rotate on a plain clamp with a s**tty small bolt to hold it in place, But for £20.00 what can you expect really

If you want a 'proper' quickshift that will last you will have to pay a lot more than £20.00. You get what you pay for these days for sure...

Slightly off topic, but I bought a GE quickshift in '04 for my 306 xs, I've recently found it when I was clearing out the garage. Would this work on my rallye? And is it a worth while mod?

You guys are all doing something wrong, I put mine on two years ago and have done nothing but cane it into gear on track ever since, it's never even slipped.

Pull up your big girl's panties and MTFU. Even if mine did slip, I'd just remove the bolt, drill a hole straight through and put a new stronger bolt through.

I have had a few of these now. Had one on my old 106 gti, one on my old 306 gti6 and i now have one on my current 306 gti6 and never had a problem with them slipping. I would say its £20 well spent if you put it on right! Just make sure you clean the gearbox arm and make sure the short shift is straight and tight then you shouldnt have a problem.

Never had a problem fitted years ago and use it hard. When i fitted it i used a file on the rod and hole in the quickshift to get better contact and put it on with some locktight.

alot of worms coming out of woodworks. before i went with the GE one, past threads suggested its the best £20 ill ever spend.

A 'mechnanic' fitted this twice and each time there was no significant throw shortening apart from third gear. My previous Spoox one was much better, significantly shorter throws.

He fitted it wrongly then, needs to be lower down the selector.

You need to move it further down the selector arm if the throw isnt short enough.

I'm not sure why they ever bothered to change the original design, It worked well enough and never slipped.

^^ This! If you clean the arm properly, and push quick shift down the arm til it's tight then tighten it properly it shouldn't slip and will shorten the throw. I've had one of the newer design ones on my track car for about 2 years and seven trackdays, it's stood up to some hammer and not slipped. I would suggest replacing the monkey in overalls with someone worthy of wielding a spanner! Roll eyes
