Going down a country road with the Missus (she is driving) the next min we go round a right hand bend at 40-50mph tops! The rear end over takes the front we hit a verge go over onto the roof and slide down the road 10ft! They offer no protection what so ever it it wasn't for the head rests stopping the roof coming in I reckon it could have been nasty! Roll cage is a definite must for the next one we buy I think, any idea what we will get payed out for an R reg 6??

probably not worth claiming! tow it home and break it up

also unless you are going to be wearing helmets and harnesses everywhere you go on the road, do not put a cage in it. i would rather be in a smash without a cage or helmet than in a crash with a cage but no helmet

It's the a-pillars, they're pretty flimsy, the back is generally not too bad.

Never mind the car, as long as you're both okay, that's what matters.

Have to buy Rikky's old car off Jorg and a couple of helmets, I'll be impressed if you cave that roof in.

Na, as has been mentioned having a roll cage on the road will indeed save your roof, but it'll kill you when you roll and your head smashes into it. Far safer to just buy a newer, safer car tbh.

Sounds nasty; at least your both ok.

Im not convinced the headrests offered much structural stability though.

There are two types - the pipe lagging which is okay for knocking your head getting in and out, but offers zero protection in a roll - or the proper solid rubber stuff which is to prevent a crash helmet from cracking when it hits it hard.

Neither will protect a skull from getting damaged unfortunately No

Why are we talking about ways to not break your car or skull in a roll on a road exactly.? I find preventative measures often are more effective.

I've seen one before where the roof stopped coming in due to the headrests, it bent the seats big time also.

She must have lifted off on the corner, the famous GTI-6 lift off oversteer

When you usually see a crashed one of these, they usually hold up pretty well
