Easy, Nashingtons Eccentric Tophat Auto Palooza. Only 1 ever made and we all know who owns it.

Actually scrap that, its a 25K car.

Just searched for that bonkers name. Only thing I can find is James posting the same thing in this thread, Post #105

LOL

I've bought it up in many many threads. I will do a 3D model of it when I get the time.

I've seen the thread for best car to buy for £10k but i want to know what you'd recommend for anything between £15k and £20k. Basically i think my brother Will be stupid to wipe that kind of money on a car when you don't have a house yet. But he is in the army and when he next goes away then come's home he's talking about getting a bmw m5 for around £17k. I can see him wasting the money and getting bored of it in 2 to 3 years. Any car suggestions that is value for money fun to drive etc other than 306 which i Will be running through his head all the time Smile

For value for money and grins on the face+ having something truely special i'd go for a Lotus. You'd get a good elise for £15k right up to an exige (or an S at a push) for £20k. It's what I did after the rallye (exige) and probably the only car I would have replaced the rallye with.

As far as depreciation goes, you can keep your bmw's...my lotus didn't depreciate at all and would still be worth what I sold it for 3 years on (even with the extra miles). It also did stupidly good mpg and was cheap enough to run- so you can plow the money into a house later if he chooses.

I agree the M5 would be dull. My BMW (E46) was tediously dull at all speeds despite having 3 litres and trick suspension to play with. It also depreciated like it was on fire. And broke down continuously. If he wants a sensible sized car like that go skyline...they are epic in every way and won't have much further to depreciate at that price Big grin

I am intrigued, how do you guys believe an M5 is boring to something like a skyline?

Ok, it might be quiet and smooth in a straight line, but hit the M button, get off the motorway and remove the traction control and hit some nice a roads and its mental fun. It’s a serious car that offers everything.

The question is too open to answer with out giving more detail on what he’s actually after but either way the M5 is great. I do like that VRX8 myself, depending on what I’d want it for the M5, VXR, Noble or Tuscan S would be on the list of cars to have for the money.
