Taken in context with what Stan posted about driving about losing 3-5 liters coolant a day, during that time which was awhile after the matrix was fixed the car has never over heated or gone over 100c.
cheers

This may sound retarded but...
What is the outcome of a failed hg? Stan, was my blaze failing or failed when you had it to repair?

best case, minimal skim, set of bolts+gasket and away you go.

worst case, mayo in the sump and spun engine bearings and worn out bores, grooves in the head and warped heads, aka scrap.

Yours had the same symptoms as this one mate when I took it in. When I stripped it down you could see the failed part of the gasket. It isn't always obvious, but when you know what you're looking for you can spot it.

Mine was certainly going for some time before it finally properly blew. When it did though it went between two cylinders and grooved the head.

I'm on it going down to a pug specialist tomorrow after work, there going to have a quick look but straight away said sounds like HG,
like you all said a long time ago Whistle

Just trying to work out how I'm going to earn the money to fix it without having the car to get to work to earn it Dunno

Possibly going to get policy switched over to a mate's rallye and give it some cruise on the way to work.

What part would best be gen pug and any recommendations on other parts?
I am using the search but quick answer would be great.

Your best off buying a genuine head gasket as it is very good quality and MLS.

As for us all saying it was HG a long time ago....Whistle

That's the one mate, not too bad a price to be honest. The rest of the items you can get from Pug or a factors. I generally use Gates belts and INA tensioners (which are standard Pug anyway). They are much cheaper from a factors, even though the parts inside the boxes are identical.

Good luck with it. Thumbs up

Cheers, going for a mix of parts maybe a shiny crank pulley if i can to match the flywheel I'll see if Lukes still doing parts through here.

Any ideas what would be a fair labour price for all parts fitted supplied by myself ?

The thing about buying the parts yourself and then getting someone else to fit, is there is no firm ground for blame to be aportioned if the worst happens.

The reason for this is the parts supplier will blame the fitter, and the fitter will blame the parts, leaving you with not much hope. The solution to this is either buy the parts and do the job yourself, or if thats not possible, give the job to someone else and get them to source the parts. Wink

Stan.

I see what you mean. I just dont like the thought of having shite parts being fitted to the 6 only want to do this once and the 6 should then be sorted for years to come. when i see the guy tonight I'll enquire about them getting the HG and cam kit through pug, showing proof. Was even Thinking rich's HG it's double the price of pug but should last longer especially as this would be the second skim on the head.

If they are a Pug Specialist they 'should' be using Pug parts anyway.
