The GTI-6 has a Chocolate cambelt, Chocolate rear beam, chocolate headgasket, Chocolate ICV, fans that shit themselves, they stall frequently to often, the alarms are w*nk and keep you up all night....... but we still buy em LOL

In my 2 and half years of owning the 6, I've never had any rear beam problems, never had cambelt problems, never had headgasket problems, ICV maybe but fans never failed. Razz

Laugh Well in that case I would be well suited, I was very throttle happy with my '6. Smile

I would absolutely love to buy a 320/325d E90 M Sport but they are way to much money for me unless I buy one with 140,000+ miles Crazy The other option being a E46 320cd Sport Coupe cheaper but still well over 100,000miles for one that would not break the bank. Octavia is a more realistic propersition for me.

My brother has VRS, constantly thinks his car is much faster than my GTi6. Close but stats and our odd quick spurt race prooves him wrong Smile

They are solid cars, comfy, look funny if your short as the front is quite high and hides most of the driver from view in the rear mirror of the car in front.

They are quick, and rev very very low, when idle reve near 0!

Pulls well. Corners well. Bust IMO just not as fun and as quick as the 6, close but not close enough.

Also you do get problems with them, as you do with most cars, but on my brothers VRS they seem to be expensive to put right.

If you are in the trade or can get parts from tps then parts for vw, audi etc seem to be a lot cheaper than pug Thumbs up
I also had crank pulley go, headgasket, rear beam, bottom end so i didnt have the greatest luck with the 6!!

its just luck whether you get a good car or not. Touch wood my current 6 is running like a dream and Will continue to for years to come. Forgive me if I'm wrong but do phase 3's tend to have fewer problems than the phase 1's?

IMO cars are all alike. Miss treat them they break, look after them with regular servicing oil etc then they will be fine. For example I came across an mg metro the other day 1 owner from new 177000 miles Shock And still going strong.

Was trying to make this point to my mate the other day as he was gabbing on about jap cars being more reliable that any other. I had an s13, nothing but probelms and 2 weeks after I sold it it went bang because the new owner though running 25psi with a standard block would be fine. I've had 3 french cars and no major problems at all.

You'd like to think so TBH But , as has been said before, it can be a bit of a lottery Smile

My trouble is the 135.9(and rising) at the pumps and in a '6 I know I will have a heavy right foot. I just can NOT escape the noise!
