so i went off to the local weigh bridge, free public weigh bridge but costs £7 to get weighed onit lol, so anyway my car weighed in at 1040kg, that is with me in it (aprrox 96kg) and 25 litres of fuel.

Car has full omp cage with extras welded on it, fibreglass bonnet and bootlid and all windows poly carb, and pretty much stripped out, still has dashboard in it and all wiring apart from airbag wiring, anyone any ideas of what to do away with next to save a bit weight?

Thats f*cking good going Chris considering you have a full on cage!

Has the dash ever been taken out? There is a load of sound deadening etc behind there that can go.

Get it out and get rid of the shite behind it Yes

Not sure what else you can remove, your car seems pretty bare. Also, do you need any more weight saving? You have 400bhp, surely its quick enough? Laugh

Other than cutting down on your sizeable gut, I'd suggest cutting the LHS of the dash off and removing the heater matrix. £250 or so will buy you a heated windscreen so you don't need it, or just MTFU and put your own fan in.

Someone put a smaller lighter alternator on from a Kubota Diesel I seem to recall. Race battery if you don't already have one is another hefty chunk you can loose. Then its things like ditching the cast iron engine mount brackets and fabricating tubular ones. And an independant rear suspension setup with coilovers instead of a beam tube and heavy as lead torsion bars and arbs. All depends how much you are perpared to spen on diminishing returns.

Why does the cage stop the dash coming out?

I reckon you'd save 10kg or so getting rid of both, still worth it IMO.

Ah, mine's dedi track; agreed I wouldn't do it if it were a road car.

Plus I'm a fatteh, so would just lose weight if I were that fussed.

shouldnt be tooo hard tbh, Maxi's were 960 kg, they did have stuff like alloy hub carriers and tubular wishbones, carbon body panels.

Not sure if the rear beam weighed any less as it was significantly chunkier.

My dash is lovely, all plumbed in electrics and carbon insert panels but weighs a frigging tonne! I really want to ditch it but don't want to have to start from scrath on the electrics again Sad
