Before you say it, yes i have searched but not found the answer im looking for.

I'm changing my engine in a couple of weeks due to it tspping so while its out i thought i would get my flywheel lightened but after reading a few horror storys about standard one's self destructing and killing people its slightly put me off.

This time 3 weeks ago i would have just bought a rich_w billet jobbie but i got laid off work so i am trying not to blow the money i have to last me etc. (sorry rich Sad )

I have seen on hi-flow heads that they do a lightweight flywheel for £88 but i think this would be a standard but lightened one.

Is there anyone that sells a non standard lightened one for around £100-150 mark??
Or does anyone wana sell me a used billet one??

Thanks, ben.

I wouldn't f*ck about with a lightened flywheel that wasn't made of some significantly stronger material, shit ones can explode and even pierce the shell of a car if it happens at high revs, there's a scary forum thread somewhere about someone with a westfield and a exploding flywheel

A lot of the horror stories come from too much material being removed and not being balanced properly. Centripetal stresses cause the metal to fatigue and let go and when it does at 7krpm it's not a pretty sight!

It's not worth lightening your flywheel if you're on a tight budget, it won't gain you any more horses, it just sounds nicer when you sit and rev it.
