probably a repost but it is the first time i have seen it. looks like a genuine engine in the thing. must have cost an absolute packet to put this thing together:
french maxi

Remembered why I stopped going to car shows now, that used to do my head in. Just sitting there revving the crap out of it.

It looks good but maybe it's just me but it doesn't sound right.

sounds like an adjustable rev limit?! certainly looks a good inlet setup, and youll never get a true sound by just revving with no load.

From what I have seen of maxis it is either a very accurate replica engine, or a genuine inlet set up. The brace looks genuine too. Probably the noise is from the twin pipe set up.certainly sounds like it is revving above 7k.as you would expect once a young French kid gets his hands on it they make it look shit.

Could well be a genuine inlet set-up, but I very much doubt a genuine Maxi engine. They were very very modified, well north of £25k's worth of modified...

possibly a replica, but that big gearstick in the cab looks like a sequential to me and that is the biggest chunk of cash on a maxi. All looks a bit real to me under the bonnet so maybe the guy bought a trashed maxi and fixed it up french stylee. still 30k plus worth

'Big stick' is a hydraulic handbrake. They have them easily in view so you're not fumbling trying to find it when required. Proper Maxi's had a 7 speed sequential. The engine doesn't sound anthing like a maxi, not anywhere near lumpy enough at lower revs. The cage is a bolt in job. Looks tidy but its not a 'real' maxi

Yes i spy an H pattern gear stick so it's either a sequential box with a factory gearstick or ot's not a maxi

Still, lovely looking engine

Thats not a maxi there is other stuff under then bonnet on a maxi and that has not got it i'm sure the Maxi engine is dry sumped as well ? oh and a real maxi engine revs to 10k and sounds totally different as well - not a bad effort mind Yes

Sounds like a failry decent spec as it is, going off his other videos idle seems to be about 1500rpm which is usually a sign of a fairly lumpy cam, unless his bodies aren't balanced properly Laugh

You can see from the panels/paint/seats/belts/ride height, etc, that it's not a proper maxi.

Probably just a wide arch kit tarted up with a maxi engine intake.

Na the MI engine has a nasty way of spitting the oil out of just about every possible breather and the catch tank - they used to run them dry sumped so as to turn the oil into a controlled closed circuit - mine didn't have this so used to p*ss out everywhere - guess what happens if you forget to keep an eye on it No

most maxi's were based on the RFY head, only the very last of them used the RFS head casting.

Is it a good idea to baffle the sump of a 6 if doing lots of track use? Can they suffer from oil starvasion in long corners otherwise??

no way is it a proper maxi, its has had a lot of money to make it look ok, but then why sit there and rev the crap out of it? pointless and does an engine no good what so ever to be reved hard with no load on it!
