As above, does anyone have a pic of the underside of their car showing this fitted? I may be asking a lot as it is fairly difficult to get good pics without the vehicle being on a ramp. My Argentinian Facebook friend is curious to know what it looks like? Happy

Thanks in advance Thumbs up

Ari

Is it seriously only possible to fit this to a 6/Rallye? I know there are some big differences to the GTi6 in general but is the suspension geomatry really that much different?

Is that on your Rallye? looks good that, not to keen on brightly coloured strut braces. Not sure I see the point to fancy colour painting under the car.... your not going to see it 99% of the time Dunno

Edit: Although its french so you may see it 80% of the time what with exhaust clamps etc rotting for a pastime Roll eyes

I thought that was an issue with those braces, good stuff.

I'm unsure what colour mine was done, it was one of Phill's first ones so it was powder coated whatever colour the first batch were done in.

I think the paint colour is mentioned somewhere in his strut brace thread but theres too many pages for me to be bothered to search through. Laugh

Okay. Here is some photos of some i have made.

This one is 25mm solid mild steel bar welded onto thick wall thickness tube for the ends and powder coated red.

And this one is the one i made for my car. It is 25mm solid stainless steel bar welded onto thick wall thickness stainless tube left in its stock finnish.

Here is my stainless one next to a mild steel one ready for powder coating.

Hope you like. All reports iv had suggest this is a really good mod. Quite a few kent members have one and seem to like them and notice a fair improvement. Smile

I used solid bar as it litterally gives the bar minimal flex. Thumbs up

Solid bar gives you very little extra stiffness over a tube for a lot more weight...

But it does allow you put more heat in and make a better weld. Plus i found most flex comes from the where the bar attaches to the end hence why use thick tube. Plus i happen to be able to get all of the said materials for free which helps. LOL

I'd imagine with solid bar and ~3mm wall tube the other side, most of the middle of the bar isn't welded to the tube anyway Razz
Can't say I've had any problems with the thin wall tube and the welding, even the one that got whacked on a parking post and bent like a banana never had the welding let go Smile

Still, if it's free LOL

The guys i made them for like them anyways. I tried tubular but everyone liked solid more. And hey... If they work well... Super. Also.. The bar is weld prepped so i can get a good chunk of weld through the bar contacting the pipe. This is just a different approach to the braces but works extremely well. Iv had no complaints thus far. Smile
