I can't afford a compressor and all the extras that go with it to spray parts of my car separately, so its going to have to be rattle cans which I'm well versed in using (polishing my mistakes out later).

Halfrauds sell 300ml for £6.50

after my lunch break on the web i haven't had much luck beating that but i'm sure it can be done!!

Hoping someone in the know will see this!!!

Find a good place like autopaints in Cardiff, they're shit hot at matching paint. Halfords paints are usually miles away from the correct shade. IMO. It's worth the little extra to get the right colour. If u aint that bothered B&Q usually have a sale on.

I will look into some local paint shops.

Honestly haven't found a colour match problem from halfords except they dont account for 13 years of being outdoors, but once polished and waxed i cant tell the difference.

What i'm really looking for here is a place that sells paint at poor boy prices £6.50 is expensive for 300ml IMO

yeah mines black, i can imagine metallics are hard not only to match in the can but also by the user on the car from speaking with mates you gotta spray it in the same direction it was originally, sounds like a DIY nightmare hence i always go for flat coloured cars!!

Given the fact you only get about 50ml of paint in a 300ml can, and a half litre of paint costs about £18 + VAT, aye it's expensive! LOL

Paint shops are better than Halfords, they can shade match it to your paint and the aerosols have a much better spray pattern, Halfords paint has a round spray whereas the better stuff has a proper fan pattern = less tiger stripes. Cans tend to be similarly priced to Halfords too but contain more paint per can Thumbs up

As for matching metallics, just make sure your final heavy coat before clear isn't flattened so you still have the sparkle.

halfords colour matched stuff is total rubbish, the 'sigma blue' looked more like laser green from the 205. never again. always get a tin matched now and it's the same price anyway

Yea Halfords paint is not good.. I used some on mine when I had to replace the drivers door handle, was not even close paint match and looked worse at night for some odd reason? Huh?

Blaze Yellow is also horrendous from Halfords. Although the black for my rallye, and a Mercedes Silver were spot on. If you do go to Halfords, go in in some grubby overalls and claim to be a mechanic. I managed to get a trade card out of it, which saves you a bit more on everything you buy!
