Hi guys, I need some uprated torsion bars for my new beam, got contacted on here via a pm buy a guy that makes them. He needs to know what spring rates the fronts are so he can get the torsion bars the same. I'm getting kw variant 2 coilys. Would anyone be able to help?? I told he I don't want to do any machining to the rear arms and they have to be a direct replacement. Thanks, tom

IIRC KW's are fairly high for a road car, 280 lb/in ish?

Just buy a hybrid ARB and some Xsara 21mm torsion bars and job done Wink

I just look at it as do a job once and do it properly. So I want the best I can afford and the best bits. Rear beam is being compeatly rebuilt , when you buy variant 2's I take it you get the rear dampers with the front coileys??

Its gonna be too stiff mate for road use and the poor road conditions here in the uk.

Trmm bars the hybrid arb and some nice bilstein zx/xsara vts shocks with a drop of 25/30mm max will be perfect.

I want it lower than that. I want about 40/45 mm and I want it adjustable. Its road and track

Ill keep my eyes out for xsara if u think they r ok. I want it that low for looks its being all set up by a suspension specialist and I've just been told they may change the springs over

I've got V2's on mine, yes you get rear shocks but they're not adjustable.

I have Xsara torsion bars, a hybrid bar and 30mm drop, and mine's spot on for track.

Careful you don't go too silly unnecessarily. As the bars are much easier to get out of a reconditioned beam don't worry too much about getting it right first time; you can always buy the Xsara and hybrid bars, fit them and just sell them on if it's not enough. Which it will be Smile

I've just been told that as I want it for fast road and occasional track use they will swap the springs from the v2's and put a different type in which will work better with what I want to use the car for as they agree it will be to stiff perfect for track only. But for road use too stiff. So looks like ill get a set of xsara ones and then if I need to go bigger then I will. Also just been told about adjustable rose jointed drop links and corner weighted.

Are you getting aurok or what ever they are called to do it? expect to pay more for setting up than ur spending on the parts!!!
save your money and buy my turbo conversion!!

I really would develop it a bit at a time before going mad, else you don't really know what makes the difference. I run shitty eBay £5-a-side droplinks on mine, and the car doesn't exactly fall over on corners.

Yer oli aurok are doing it all I'm supplying parts and fitting and they are cornerweighting etc but they said the springs will be too stiff for road use and can get a better spring

As springs are a relatively cheap part, why not *try* something first rather than trying to design a race car that's never been driven?

f*ck me you do have money to waste!!
Corner weighting is all well and good but it should be set up depending what track you are using!!
I think i went for 300 lb springs to match the 21mm torsion bars!

Genuinely, you're wasting your cash. Put the K2s on, see how it performs on track. Then address issues.

Corner weighting? Seriously? What about when you have a passenger in the car with you? Throws it all out. Even topping up the washer fluid'll put that back out of balance.

If you were looking at racing I'd say go for it, but there really is no point paying to fix issues you don't even know are there.

For that money i would get rid of the beam all together!!

Mate dont waste your money try it out first then see, corner weighting will be the biggest waste of money as like i said it should be set up to the track your going to use!!

I just want the car to be spot on. I don't mind spending the money on it. You will be the only person on here with a 4x4 306 deffinatly need to take me out in that
