Hi,

Is the 306GTI6 ECU self learning ?

If it is will it work well enough to get the most out of using high octane V-power fuel ?

Cheers.

To an extent, yes. If you've been using 95 RON and switch to 97 or even 99 RON it'll take a few tankfuls to adapt but they have a built in margin for adapting air/fuel ratios to suit Smile

Although mine seemed to run better on tesco99 I'd just use 95 RON. I doubt it is worth the few pence a litre extra.

I know when using the better stuff like V power the head tends to be cleaner on the inside, compared to using the usual unleaded.

I read somewhere the 6 has to be set up to take the high octane type of unleaded ?

Cheers

V Power etc seemed to last longer, but not enough to warrant the extra expense. The only one I used to use consistently was Waitrose 97 as that was only 3p more than the 95.

I'd have thought an ecu reset with a full tank of fresh V Power might make a difference, but we aren't talking turbo car difference. Guess it depends on if the ECU adjusts fuelling/advance on WOT as it doesn't use the lambda at that point iirc.

not certain how the ecu behaves on WOT, it would pick up knock/det and retard the ignition if there's not enough fuel going in on the WOT map.

thats my understanding of it anyway LOL
