FAG have always done the job for me. I have them in the diesel and the petrol and they get a good work out on bumpy b roads!

I see a lot of premature bearing failures caused by fitters damaging the drive flange where the cv joint mates to it. That and s**te/pattern parts. You sometimes find that the original peugeot part manufacturer makes lower quality parts for the aftermarket.

Tbh I think mine have failed due to the stress put on them. 2.8 degrees of front camber, 16" alloys and 310mm brake kit is a fair amount of weight and it being a race car, it doesn't have a gentle life!

If you can't find an double-zero replacements, might worth popping a seal out of a new bearing, washing the basic grease out and trying a short fill (to reduce temperature, too much grease = more temperature) with something a bit more heat resistant with a synthetic base oil.

It's very rarely stress on track cars - road cars give the bearings more stress whalloping potholes and bouncing off kerbs, it's usually heat and a lubricant breakdown.
High precision bearings (the 00 lathe bearings I was using) run cooler to start with, if you can get them.

I doubt that the 16's and 310mm brake kit actually weigh any more at sll

I might try some SNR ones again then. Seem fairly reputable and are only £30 each on ECP at the moment.

SNR are what you'll get if you order from pug anyway. Their OE manufacturer for a lot of makes and models. Still don't know if it's true that companies like that send items with better tolerances to the dealer and worse tollarences to aftermarket....

The bearings on my 6 hasn't had much red hot track use in their life but still have been chucked round country lanes every day of their life. I've had the car since 98k and it's now on 145k and never changed a bearing. Also have full service history and every receipt / bill before I bought it and don't think I ever saw a bearing replacement.

We have found at work in the past sometimes once a hub has had several bearings pressed in and out they start to chew through bearings big time. We've other opted to replace the complete hub assembly and it has solved the issue.

Also a lot of people don't press the bearings in correctly.
