I was just wondering the other day how much current the epas system draws from a 106/saxo?

I've had a search on google but didn't find anything useful.

The reason i'm asking is that i'm considering removing the pas pump and a/c pump and just having an alternator running on the engine, but i'm not sure which would cause more drag on the engine, the normal pas pump or running an epas system so the alternator would be under more load all the time so added resistance there.

I couldn't decide whether to stick this thread in the electrical or engine section.

I'd leave the PAS pump and get an underdriven crank puilley (assuming you can get one for our cars)

They draw fook all when the steering isn't doing anything - about 6-8 amps, they only draw more when the steering gets weighted up - the one on the buggy peaks at about 42-44 amps IIRC when it's working against shock loadings.
