Right im oredering a fibre glass bonnet, and im not sure if i should get the fixings on it so that i can fit it to standard hinges or use bonnet pins, it will have to bonnet pins at front, but should i go with 2 at the rear or standard hinges?

what you guys think?

just ordered some bits for the wallye!! i love my job ive been under paid my bonus so get an extra £1200 minus tax tho, but basically that will cover my remap and fibre glass parts also probly my windows!!

Depends what you're after - if it's one of the Vitesse (James?) then he'll fit the fixings if you go for a double-skin which is what I assume you're referring to.

If you're doing that then I'd go for two pins at the front and the hinges, going for four pins will mean having to physically remove your bonnet every time you want to check anything. Depends whether you're willing to accept that extra ballache in the name of extra weightsaving Smile

And don't forget that it is actually the law that any bonuses from work get spent on car parts.

Someone else used their hinges on a single skin bonnet & they were having "bulging" issuesUnsure
I wont pay for 4/6 aerocatches at £45 a pair so I'll just use std bonnet pins.
For the tailgate though I'm going to use some bonnet pins with a key fitting on the top, they are about a tenner a pair on egay.
The way I see it is I may need to get the bonnet off in a hurry so it has to be bonnet pins, the tailgate can have the fiddley locking jobbies as there should be no rush to take that off.

Cool

Here you go Rikky, sorry can't do clickys on the phoneDoh

http://www.mitchellmotorsports.co.uk/bonnet-pins--fasteners-57-c.asp

I didn't bother with the locking ones in the end for the tail gate, I just got 3 pairs of the round quick release pins.
For the bonnet I've ordered 3 pairs of black anodised bonnet pins & 3 pairs of recessed mounting plates (for the high speed runs innit)Ninja

if you use aerocatches you can use them as hinges at the back. Not sure on how high it will lift but might be worth looking into

well the locking mechanism on the locks also act as a pivot so you can use it as a hinge. its in the instructions, looknig it though I am not sure it will work there.

Yeah I heard that too. At first they were putting tape over the exposed pins (that sort of thing is a No No for TUV), but then I heard they were turning people back. I wonder if the flush mount aerocatch style are also Verboten Unsure

PS - Denis has a single skin FG bonnet and his doesn't "bulge" like in those pictures No I think those hinges must need greasing, Eddy! CLICKY
