Hi Guys,

Pretty unusal thing I have with my car... The front left hub doesn't secure the shock as it should.

When the shock is installed, the bolt tightened it is silent for a few bumps, but after a while it generates a knocking sound when going over bumps with higher speed.

We've examined what is the problme and it's clearly visible that the shock absorber is not secured by the hub properly, so the shock could slide a bit doen into the hub, and as the AST shock has a small lip it ctaches ont eh hub and makes an awful knocking noise.

We've measured the free diameter of the hub (at the place where the shock is secured) and it was 2mm bigger than the shock body. But I still say with the securing bolt it SHOULD hold the shock.

But it clearly doesn't...

Now.. we've tried to make the hole a bit smaller by tightening the bolt just a little without the shock in place. It made the slot smaller, and it was tighter with the shock absoerber in, but after a few kilomteres it started that annyoing sound again!

Anyone had such problem before?

What could be the solution for this?

It is really getting on my nerves now!!!!

the other side is fine, no movement at all!

when I've swapped the original shocks with the ASTs I saw signs of shock movement at the left side (a few vertical scratches on the shock body where it is inside the hub )

I've even tried with a new bolt...

That was my first thought too have you checked the threds in the hub and on the bolt. if there is damage then over those few km's the bolt might be coming loose in the hub and allowing the shock to move.

no threads in the hub bar the brake caliper, abs sensor, and brake hose bracket.

either the damper body is the wrong size (i.e smaller than the other side), or the hub carrier is damaged.

Or it's come loose at some point and the strut casing has splayed it out past the point of return.
