well lads, im changing the oil again in the next few weeks and im just wondering which oil to go for, i was using valvoline 10w40 first but then had an issue with the engine sounding tappy when hot so on the next oil change i tried valvoline 10w60 as i though the higher viscosity might help but it didnt, anyhow when i got the head done not long ago the tapping is gone completely Big grin so wondering if i should change back to the 10w40 now as ive read that 10w60 might be too thick when hot to protect the engine, ive also read that it may slow the engine down slightly as it wont be as thin (any truth in this or just bull)?
will 10w40 be good enough protection when giving it some? the valvoline 10w40 here is 25euro, pug want 65euro for the recommended total stuff Angry

by the way the 2 oils ive used in it are semi-synth and theres 115,000miles on the engine but never uses any oil between changes..

Silkolene pro race at 10/50 is what i use, it's consistency is thin to help the engine turn around easier, yet at high temp and speed it has much better stable velocity to protect the engine.

i was actually looking for a 10w50 the last service but the only step up from the 10w40 i could find was the 10w60 Roll eyes

1 more thing, would i be better with a semi or fully? i know the fully can go alot longer between changes but besides that which would be better for the 6? i dont mind changing the oil regularly so wouldnt choose the fully just for that reason Wink

65 Euros? Laugh my ass off

10W/40 is what Peugeot recommend and will therefore be fine.

Check OPIE oils website for a good choice and cheap, they are doing a special again for a day or two more.

I just use Mobil 1. Not sure of the grade as I buy it from Halfrauds. But I will say that I've never had issues with oil temperatures or tapping or anything else for that matter. Personally I swear by the stuffSmile

I use this too, it's bloody good value for a genuine fully synthetic 5W-40 oil. I can't fault it Thumbs up
