I'm getting exactly the same thing mate, been fine until recently, then just started doing it.

I suspected coil packs at first, so bought 4 brand new ones (done 108,000, so was prob due a change anyway) but that didn't solve it. Spark plugs are brand new (NGK Irridiums).

My next route will be either the Lambda Sensor, because this can cause simular symptoms + the car will drink like a fish, which mine seems to be doing or the Map sensor.

I was worried that it might be early stages of a head gasket failure, but I done a compression test on it & all was good, but the only real test would be to do a Leak Down Test, but I'm confident that its not that.

I have been given a TPS to try, but I don't think it is that either, because it would do it all the time, not just when it's cold.

My betting is that it is the Lambda, but if I solve the problem before you, then I'll be sure to let you know & vice versa would be appreciated please mate Wink

yer sure thing make thanks for the update on ur problem and i will let you no as soon as i have solved it my end i think im going to be having it put on a diagnostic machine towards the end of the week so that will read all the sensors so hopefully its not something major expensive and we can both fix it very soon

Really?? Why's that then mate??

I thought the Lambda was working 24/7 to monitor the air/fuel ratio??

Whats your thoughts on the problem then mate, are you able to shed any light on this for me & Foot??

Most likely to be TPS or possibly a sticky idle valve.

the Lambda only works when it has warmed up, until then the ecu disregards the reading from it, what temperature that is I'm not sure though.

seems like one for a mechanic...Yes

but in all honesty... you should either get sensors checked on a live data stream with a diagnostics kit or get a multimeter out and check the resistance/voltages etc

I've had the faults read on the car and came
Out with map sensor so changed it and I'm going
To read the faults again now and I think I will take the resonator out and swap it for the blanking plate I had on a while ago although heard bad things about them.

mine does a similar thing when cold, feels a bit like it's running out of petrol (ps, it's not running out of petrol) but the problem goes away after a real short bit of driving and it's fine after that. but in a morning or after it's been left for a while it's shite.

yer exactly the same problem here mate im going to change all the coil packs 1 by 1 starting tomorrow and start with a new set of plugs see if that solves the problem im also getting all the faults read to see if there are any new ones ill keep this up to date with my progress as to what happens also think im going to remove the resonator for a blanking plate to eliminate that as well.
