Hi all,

Just a quick note to tell people how much benefit I have noticed from adjusting my upper strutbrace so that it has extended the bar. I have only made a ¾ of a turn difference! But what a difference in every way, turn is a lot sharper and the steering is more positive.

I normally make this adjustment in summer and re-adjust it in the winter.

Just something for people to play about with.

Thanks,

Matt

My car had been in a garage to do my top mounts, they may have over done it, now making it spot-on.

I never really understood this - seems counter-intuitive? Unsure

Under cornering I imagine the turrets want to flex inwards towards each other. So I would expect you want to counter-act that i.e. hold them apart, not pull them even further in the direction they're wanting to go?

When cornering isn't the top of the loaded turret trying to move outward, as the bottom of the wheel tries to tuck itself under the car.
(If it goes inwards it will create -ve camber which will benefit the cornering )
The turret tries to move inwards as the weight on it increases, but this is small compared to the cornering forces.

I still can't believe how much improvement it's made.

Small adjustments for the win.

Because there's now some preload on the bar, so it stiffens the whole structure.

You (should) do the same when installing a roll cage - make everything a tap/press in fit into the chassis so the whole cage is preloaded against the shell, which stiffens the whole structure up.

I reckon you'd have the same result if you turned it 1.5 turns back again.
